Its unlikely, but not impossible I suppose.
Hopefully the PS4 will be backwards compatible this time. It's be really stupid not to be.

The PS3 was backwards compatible at first.
It also had Other OS...
I would not expect Sony to handle the PS4 any differently.

Well, they killed hardware BC almost immediately, and the software BC was rubbish and nixed rather quickly as well. So, I would say the evidence says they could go either way on that. /opinion

Well, expect them to. The PS3 originally handled back compat by essentially embedding the requisite PS2 parts on the PS3 mainboard. This was massively expensive, of course. Sony will obviously not go this route with the next Playstation because it makes very little financial sense, even if one doesn't take their current financial situation into account. They could do it via software emulation, but that'd require hardware several orders of magnitude faster, and whatever hardware the PS4 is going to use, I doubt it's going to be able to emulate the Cell in all its complexities and SPU bizarreness at anything resembling a remotely usefeul level.

Top 5*
FTL - This is the game that has consistently kept me coming back for more, and I've yet to beat it on easy (although I came very close and now have a STRATEGY for the boss). Never fails to delight.
*
Mass Effect 3 - Aside from the horrible, anti-climactic ending, I'd invested many hours in the whole trilogy and seeing it all come together was a very special game experience indeed. I'd spent so long with the characters I felt like I knew them and I was gripped until the bitter end.
*
XCOM - I loved the original, and whilst this has its faults it is still a brilliant turn based strategy game I stuck with until the end which I shall return to in Ironman mode.
*
Hotline Miami - Initially, I spent 20 minutes grappling with this and concluded it was pants. But dethtoll et al. wouldn't STFU about it so I gave it another chance and then it clicked. Senseless, totally awesome violence to an amazing soundtrack.
*
Dishonored - I haven't spent as much time with this as I would have liked (probably about 1/3 of the way through at most), but it's very polished indeed and I'm loving it so far.
Honorable Mentions
NFS: Most Wanted on XBOX 360. I'm a sucker for a good racing game and this is a good racing game, done by Criterion who did Burnout Paradise.
(http://www.scoregasm-game.com/) Scoregasm - Indie bullet hell and it's also available on Steam. Best Arcade shooter I've played since Geometry Wars 2.
Disappointments
Torchlight 2 - Probably a bit controversial, but it's too fiddly and something with this didn't just click...
Diablo III - ...but then neither did this. And I spent 160 hours coming to that conclusion.

I am passing on the PS3, waiting to see what they have next gen. I bought a Wii and a 360 and a PC this gen, so unless Journey comes to one of those, I am afraid that I am not going to be able to play and that sucks. I am terribly open minded (to a fault, perhaps), and I approach things like this with a blank slate.
Here's hoping for a port!
Never say never! Snap one up when it's a cheap retro thing like a PS2 is now, the PS3 has a handful of really good exclusives that are well worth checking out (Siren and the Ico/Colossus HD 3D pack spring to mind). Might happen fairly quickly once PS4 is out. However... there may be no other Journey players out there if you wait too long, I imagine it would lose a lot if you went alone. Do you have any PS3 owning friends? It can be played in one sitting (and I recommend you do this) of 2-4 hours if I remember right.

Yeah, some good stuff on Steam if you like twin-stick shooters. That one's in the Mutant Storm camp, and there's a great one called Waves which is a pretty blatant Geometry Wars 'homage' ;) but it just plays brilliantly well and has a really nice slow-time mechanic. And it looks ace in 3D!
For best games I'm very much on the bandwagon:
Dishonored
The Walking Dead
FTL
Journey
... for a fifth I guess I'll go with Hotline Miami, but I've bought and not yet played XCOM which I suspect I'll like better, on the strength of the demo, reviews, comments, etc.
EDIT: I forgot about Fez, was that this year or last? If 2012 that's one of my 5

Dishonored - I don't know what else there is to say about this, apart from being my favourite of 2012. There's plenty to criticize, but I had too much fun for it to bother me.
The Walking Dead - If you're going to take away interactivity then make it worth my while. Delivered.
FTL - I haven't played it in months, but the soundtrack keeps getting stuck in my head. I still need that damn slug cruiser.
Warlock: Master of the Arcane - I'm not a 4x person, but this one caught me off guard. It's just tasty wargame cake. I grabbed the Armageddon scenario DLC the other day, and it's clearly a response to fans who complained about the game being too easy. My game started off normal, discovering the other warlords, with skirmishes for contested territory. Then the gates to another dimension start opening up everywhere and abominations pour through, and the land itself has caught a spreading disease. The other mages quickly realize how fucked they are and are happy to form alliances. And then, just when I thought I had it worked out, from out of nowhere a meteor carves across my second biggest city, permanently taking with it the resources I needed and making the terrain impassible. And now, I learn from scouts that gates in other lands were seen pulsating with light before laying waste to everything. So now it's nukes too. I love damage control.
The other games:
Far Cry 3 is barely playable on my computer.
I still need to play Lone Survivor, and I'm really looking forward to it. I checked out the Crusader Kings 2 demo, but it's complicated enough that I need to find a lot of time to work it out. Fallen Enchantress is on my list, too.
Hotline Miami didn't click with me, but I didn't hate it either.
Spec Ops: The Line was very interesting, and I was happy to play it, but the biggest problem I have with it is that if I have no choice then how can I feel bad about my actions? I know that it was intentional to give the player no choice, but that doesn't mean it works.

I love the fact that Stardock wanted to distance themselves so far away from the Elemental shitstorm that they completely dropped the title from Elemental's expandalone.

I will never understand why people whine about interactivity with TWD. It's a fucking adventure game with a lot of talking. They haven't made adventure games en masse in over a decade. What do you even expect?
