since nobody was able to run Crysis in its full, uncut glory I don't think it is qualified to appear on any best-of list. that's crytek's fault.
Oh, shut up.

metal gear solid 2 previews, and then even 5 years later, when I played it for PC (yes, Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance is out for PC)
the attention to detail is amazing, I mean, you stare up at a flock of seagulls and get bird shit in your face! :eww:
the half life 2 alpha was just WOW, I mean, if that game came out when it should of have, it would of been the best looking game ever. However, FarCry beat it due to release day.
Independence War 2 looked awesome, only to be beaten by X3 Reunion.

Crysis at, say, 90% of the maximal settings is pretty damn gorgeous, and it runs well enough even on machines that aren't top-of-the-line. There are enough setups and INI files out there that allow you to run it at max settings on good machines at playable framerates. Crysis Warfare, from what I've heard, has been optimised to run better on absolutely affordable machines. If you lower the resolutions, both games look beautiful and run very well. Personally I prefer more stylised graphics to the photorealism-meets-picture-postcards look of Crysis, but it's simply silly to deny that the game looks great even at 90% of max settings and it runs well enough on current machines. Otherwise your argument would be just as true for STALKER, which can look amazing but is very demanding on computers when everything's turned up to the max - even more so with Clear Sky.

Some games that made my jaw drop back in the day were mostly XBOX. (I had a PS2 and a non-shader video card)
Splinter Cell, and Thief 3 were just stunning. Hell, even Voodoo Vince was pretty.
