ContagionA queasily realistic take on global pandemic that allows its story to organically grow in scale with the hypothetical viral spread.
Given the plot, I find Cliff Martinez' OST more then just slightly influenced by the original DeusEx. The movie itself, not so much, but the music struck a few cords for me.

Hey folks I'm back from spending a week in Las Vegas! I'd love to tell you all about it but I've been told that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. So, err... here is a list of movies I saw this year instead.
Great:
13 Assassins
Midnight in Paris
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Good:
X-Men: First Class
Source Code
Unstoppable
Fast Five
Super
Super 8 (the first half was great)
Batman: Year One (very good animated adaptation)
Meh:
Hanna
Paul
Rango
Adjustment Bureau
Still looking forward to watching: Sherlock Holmes 2, Tintin, everything in Scots' "Memorable" section.

Rewatched Inception last night, nothing comes close to that this year.

Ouch. That's dire.
I've only seen Melancholia so far from 2011 and it was godawful.

Wow, Scots, something about you sucking Leo's balls just doesn't seem right.

True Grit was this year here in tha saouth. I'd rate that pretty highly. Amazingly well made. Easy to like. Not so straightforward to love. Even with a classic genre pot boiler you don't get a simple time with the Coens.

you fail
I fail to see why it got so much praise, and I failed to get anything out of watching it.
I understand it's basically about denial, and the characters rationalising away their fears, but it doesn't go much further than noticing that that's what people often do - and then everyone dies.
Perhaps I'm missing something, and I can't find out what even from reading the glowing reviews, but none of it was thought provoking or beautiful for me. I don't mind that it exists, though, and I'm not one of these "I want 2 hours of my life back" people. :cheeky:
