This is kind of the opposite of another thread going on right now, but here's the rub. Bikerdude recently helped me build a new PC - last time I did this was April 2004, right before Deadly Shadow came out. I was pretty good on running things through mid 2006 or so, but then it started to fall apart. I remember trying to run Gothic 3, and it was a slideshow.
So, what do I need to catch up on from late 2006-present? I have a list of course (see below), and most of the titles are what you'd expect. Just wanted to see if there are any other big recommendations, or gems I may have missed. Anything is in, except for sports, racing, or pure puzzle games. PC exclusive of course, I have a 360 and PS3.
And I'm not including things that came out during this period that would run on the PC I've already got (think Deadly Shadows type power).
Gothic 3
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. & Clear Sky expansion (one of the main reasons I'm upgrading).
Crysis (& Warhead expansion)
Supreme Commander
The Witcher (enhanced edition)
Sins of a Solar Empire
Spore
Additions from this thread:
Empire: Total War
Penumbra trilogy
World In Conflict
Company of Heroes (+ expansions)
Neverwinter Nights 2 (+ expansions)
King's Bounty: The Legend
Medieval II: Total War
1701 A.D. Gold
Dawn of War 2

Dead Space and Fallout 3, obviously.
I think you should also try Bioshock.

Thanks bukary, but those are all console games which I've played. I'm looking for titles exclusive to the PC.

Ouch, I missed that part of your post. Sorry.

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
STALKER: Clear Sky
Crysis
I think that's about it in terms of PC exclusives. . .

Clear Sky, while adding some much-needed shit that should have been in the original (repairing/upgrading equipment, specifically) was a huge turd in most other respects, so I couldn't really recommend it.
For recent releases that aren't indie titles, you can't go wrong with Empire Total War.

WARNING: DO NOT BUY SPORE

Yeah, I gotta agree with Stitch. It's fun to start with, but fuck me does it get repetitive so very, very quickly. Save your money for something else, like boiling your head. In the long run it's more fun.

PC exclusive?
Well, that narrows it down I guess. I would say Stalker: SoC for sure, also the Witcher EE.
The list is depressingly small. You're probably better off going with a list of games that are better on PC.
FEAR 2 (I'd include FEAR 1 but that's just shy of the 3 year mark)
Fallout 3 (for the moddability, especially- the nice thing is being able to drop in your own music to make up for or outright replace the thoroughly boring Inon Zur soundtrack)
Anything Valve made
CoD4
uh that's it really.

Penumbra Overture is less than 2 years old. $20 for the whole series too.
