King's Bounty, if you miss the New World Computing Heroes of Might & Magic games from the days of yore. Or if you don't mind getting hooked onto some very charming turn-based strategy RPGing.
I'm also going to have to second, third, and fourth Stalker: SoC, simply because it's fecking brilliant. Good to see that it's high on your list of stuff to play.
There's also World in Conflict which, along with Crysis, is something that can help your new PC stretch its legs a bit.
Koki can probably chip in on whether Cryostasis is worth a play (he might actually say yes, miracle of miracles).

Another ++ for Stalker, but I doubt that's even necessary anymore.
But no racing or puzzle games? That means you'll miss out on Trackmania United Forever, Portal, and World of Goo!

Yeah, I gotta agree with Stitch. It's fun to start with, but fuck me does it get repetitive so very, very quickly. Save your money for something else, like boiling your head. In the long run it's more fun.
Spore is the only game that has actually offended me as a purchaser of games.

I feel like I'm missing something about this game. I got it based on the hype but then found it to be really boring. My friends who have tried it all came to the same conclusion but I know it has a lot of adherents online.
What is it that makes this game fun? Is the patch or expansion needed or something?

The Witcher, though a heavily modified version is due for the 360 in a bit.
Stalker
Company of Heroes
Crysis -can be fun to showcase a new rig.
Neverwinter Nights 2 + expansions... -mostly the expansions.
Kings Bounty -Infinitely charming and loads of fun.

Fukken told you guys. The concept was balls to start off with because you can never do each section with enough depth.
Back OT: games for PC. Hmmm. I'm not sure how old these are but Company of Heroes and its expansion Opposing Fronts are PC exclusives that excellent if you like that sort of thing. I'm not sure I get which PC you're going to play on though Brethren. CoH requires a little bit of grunt.

COD4
STALKER: Clear Sky(despite the horrible ending)
Mass Effect
Empire:Total War
Medieval II:Total War(yea I love this series)
The Witcher:Enhanced Edition
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
That's the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

These are pretty sad lists. Not that the games aren't good, but pick any other system (well, besides PSP) and the list would be much longer.

Hurm, makes me realise that I haven't missed much in the past 2-3 years.
I'm tempted by Fallout 3 but I think I'll wait til it drops in price further because I'm a miser (hello, scottish!) and because I struggle to play games anyway so paying premium doesn't make sense.
STALKER was an atmospheric masterpiece that needed better a more compelling story and characters.
Other than that, I loved the last HL episode and Portal but other than that I can't think of anything I've been even terribly interested to check out.

This, definitely. I'm ashamed to say I'd forgotten about it. The original campaign is so-so, and I can't comment on Storm of Zehir, but Mask of the Betrayer is a sweet, wonderful gem in my book, one of the best.
Bethesda's Fallout 3 and Oblivion also get a big PC recommendation, for the modding options - the former is nicely augmented by the modding scene, and the latter is worth it almost exclusively due to said scene, but well worth it at that. Speaking of, if you have Oblivion and kinda like horror games, I'd really suggest trying out (

I was gonna say something about how there's no need to rub it in like that, but now that I think about it... Would a 06-09 list of, according to you, highly recommended exclusives to any one console be so much longer? Honest question.
On a sidenote, this thread might just convince me to give Stalker a shot again, now that I'm not pressed for HDD space anymore.
