The sidequests and such were shit, but the gunplay and the main story thread were great.
What was it? I played the story through around halfway twice and never really had a clue what the fuck it was about.

If you've only played halfway, then I doubt you've even touched on what the game is about. Although you may have figured out the predictable plot twist by that point.

The gunplay was like in every other damn FPS ever made(That is guns are about as accurate and damaging as rocks) and the main story thread was pretty much nonexistant - bunch of NPCs telling you to bring them "documents" then everything is explained to you in last 10 minutes.

Other than the pistol/shotgun being more accurate fired from the hip than through the sights, I thought the gunplay was pretty awesome. I had no problem headshotting guys in single-shot mode, and using semi or full auto results in what seems like a pretty realistic spray of bullets from medium to long range. The only thing I'd probably do to change it is removing the crosshair.

Fukken told you guys. The concept was balls to start off with because you can never do each section with enough depth.
I really should let this go as it was two full pages ago, but this is a pretty shit and flat out wrong "I told you so." The concept was just fine, it was the design and execution that was a big middle finger to the consumer.

Make of it what you will.
That the console lists are, unsurprisingly, a little big longer, but hardly Noah's flood. And even though it doesn't change much, I agree with Pidesco on the "exclusive at the time" issue - having to wait another half a year for a game I'm interested in won't make me want to switch from my favourite platform, which is the point of exclusive titles.
By the way, I'm only interested in the holy PC-PS3-X360 trinity, portables don't pop up on my radar.

Sad thing is that when Bioware pulls the same plot twist in their typically ham handed manner (ie dropping such glaring clues that it's obvious from the second cutscene, maybe twenty minutes into the game) millions think it's awsum best evar. I'd suspect a high proportion of those who played Stalker never worked out that connection because it isn't made obvious enoughHm. I'll spoiler cover that, just to be on the safe side.

Also, just a detail, but Condemned wasn't an exclusive.
I think he meant Condemned 2, which was exclusive.

C1 may as well have been exclusive for the utter lack of support the PC version recieved. It and the sequel are the biggest reasons I wanted a 360.
