Yeah I'm not really looking forward to anything myself- mostly just Batman AA and perhaps Half-Life 2 Episode 3. The big game I was waiting for all year, FEAR 2, came out already.

dare i say, ..... The Witcher Enhanced Edition.
it has sword fighting, inventory (!), friendly NPCs, trading, dialogue trees, some little magic and character levelling without much grind and a chovinistic take on the hanky panky (gamers like that) as well as multiple endings. and it only uses a few buttons, so they can port it to the consoles ! defenitely besides STALKER (even ClearSky is still better than some other shooters) one of the games I would recommend from the last years in terms of overall atmosphere and little parts summing up to an (for me) enjoyable and sympathetic experience, besides the bugs that come with big titles (big publisher/dumbed down or not). other big games had little gripes that added up to an lesser and lesser experience the longer I played them so e.g. FarCry2, Fear2, AssassinsCreed ran out of steam very soon.
And right now MenOfWar is starting to pull me over to the RTS genre (which I avoided mostly due to time restrictions) and I dare say it's very, very awesome in every regard as much as KingsBounty made me appreciate chess-like mass-grinding through experience levels in a fictional fantasy world (the stuff I usually HATE).
Like in the world of cinema (which I have a much bigger love for than gaming) there are now and then movies/games in a genre/with a story I usually do not care in the slightest for but they still fill me with joy when I see them / play them. MenOfWar/KingsBounty are 2 games that have so much attention and obviously love by the devs for the details and so brilliant design (gotta love all those awesome animations in KingsBounty) even though being grindy and/or extremly difficult that I can recommend them to anybody as being a pure work of art first (maybe MOW less but it got about 1mio. different things you can do compared to similar games)
