Compare the standard Zerg unit to a Tyranid Ravener and tell me Blizzard aren't riding on GWS' coattails.

To try and re-rail the topic.
I"d vote you should try the Original Dark Reign (not DRII) and Krush Kill 'N Destroy if you can find either game.
They're both kind of... vastly improved versions of The original Command and Conquer. KKND is good for a Laugh and dark reign was where RTS's started getting a little more complex

Similarities in armour are probably born more out of the fact that certain areas of the body need to be protected while allowing movement of the limbs etc..
Similarities in aliens are probably more down to us using insects / arachnids as inspiration as they're the most ubiquitously creepy entities in our world.
I don't think the IPs are copied from each other so much as inspired from the same basic sources.

Why is it such a big deal to people at all? Is it the fact that people say blizzard is so creative or something? Give up, I've been saying warcraft was not that creative since it came out(Diablo as well for that matter). Nobody cared, and neither did I by the time of starcraft. It's got good gameplay and thats all that matters. (though I do admit I have not been super keen on blizzards idea of gameplay since D2, but other people seem to like it.)
Anyway, on topic:
DoW and what might be a bit controversial C&C3. I had a lot of fun with C&C3, admittedly its not as C&C as some would like, but I enjoyed it. The expansion however nerfs up gameplay balance so bad that it makes the DoW expansions imbalance's look petty.
Oh, and there is Lord of the Rings: Battle for middle earth(highly reccommended), age of empires 3, and well thats about all of the RTS I've really enjoyed in the past two years.
Rise of Legends, Sins and Supreme Commander were interesting distractions for me, but I just could not stay interested.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Anyone played Star Wars Empire At War? Many SW games suck hard, but this one got some decent reviews.

You are aware that the Ravener was designed for the release of the 3rd Ed. Tyranids in 2001, long after the release of Starcraft?

If you want to play a good starwars game dont play anything after or including jedi outcast, or anything on a console.
Thats just my opinion. I hear KOTOR is supposed to be superb, but i havent tried it.
Tie Figher + all espansions is a must play if you can ever get that game working.
and Dark Forces as well.
I know none of them are RTS but the starwars talk just meant I had to pipe up.
Seirously though... Dark Reign and KKND

Was Dark Forces better than its follow up? I only got into the series at Dark Forces 2.
