While reading various threads here I have seen a few suggestions of unusually effective ways to deal with certian types of enemies.
Although reloading a quick-saved game is much faster in Deus Ex than in Thief, I am still wary of the time it would take to experiment. Thus this seems a useful topic.
So far I have found...
(a) Two enemies close by - Aradayn commented the prod will allow you to take them both out without potentially suffering damage
(b) MiB - BoundVorticity commented that a sniper rifle headshot will allow you to use them as explosive devices, Aradayn commented that prod is only weapon that allows a non-explosive easy KO from behind
(c) Greasels - [can't find the reference to properly give credit] someone commented that one tranq dart causes them to flee, and 2 KOs them
(d) Groups of humans - Aradayn commented that a gas grenade renders them sitting ducks, somone [can't find the reference to properly give credit] commented that WP Rockets are equivalently simple
What other types of enemies have especially appropriate weapons to use against them?

When you're in that nuclear silo, and you get locked into the tunnel, all of those MJ12 commandos and MIBS come running at you from the other end of the tunnel. Such a small, small tunnel. Barely big enough for one GEP rocket. . . .
If anybody had been watching me play, they wouldn't have known that MIBs explode. . .

In the small hall of the missile silo there is the false floof you can slip through...it saves the ammo and then you can pick them off at the top.
As for types of weapons, I'd have to say that it's whatever style you have picked/enjoy that makes your weapon choice. First time I played, I worked the sniper rifle. Everything was done with the sniper rifle. In close, sniper rifle. Long range (obviously) sniper rifle. Second time I played, I went all melee. That meant prod and DTS. Loads and loads of fun. Everyone was sliced with the DTS, no problem. MIBs and WIBs? Prod em down. Right now I'm playing sawed-off shotgun fanatic...heh. I never realized the sheer power of the shotgun. Screw the assault shotgun. With the sawed-off, there's no need for a second shot. :D

Hey, when I shot the greasels with tranq darts, they just got more pissed off! BUT, the POISON darts are quite effective.

Huh? Do you mean normal darts don't work and tranq darts do?
Anyway, the Dragons Tooth is effective against everything :D

Juveli, there are three types of darts: tranq darts, darts, and flare darts. Poison darts exist only in mind. With that in mind (pun not intended), what did you actually mean?
juveli on 18/10/2001 at 11:18
Oh yes, I meant the normal darts. The ones which kill people. Sorry about the confusion. :o

I've also found tranq darts to be relatively ineffective against greasels. Probably because they already spit poison and so are immune. It takes exactly 4 regular darts to kill one and 3 to make them run away. Them and karkians in the water are the only times I ever use the regular darts. I like to save my tranq darts for everything else.

I agree with above. Plus I kill dogs with this method also.

No, no, no! Normal Darts are brilliant for a silent approach/take down as they kill all normal men with one head shot. IIRC, the Commandoes take 2 to the head.
