The existing Thief Wiki is a valuable resource. I use it regularly. Anyone can edit it, so it shouldn't be hard to keep up to date if a few people will chip in some time occasionally. There is already a (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144205) list of fan missions, including their filenames (where known). That should be useful for getting started.
I know about that 'list'.....I compiled it and maintain it :laff:
as for the filenames (where known) ...i only put file names in the FMloader guide if the file name is very different from the name of the mission, or if 2 different missions have similar file names. If the mission name is the same as the file name you should be able to find the mission in your darkloader or FMsel loader with ease anyway. The guide was designed to help you when you have 100's of FMs and don't know the oddly named zip file
As for Wiki.....after i have finished the T3 walks, i could easily get all the T1/TG & T3 missions done, as having played and written walkthroughs for all of them in the last year i'm a bit of a minefield of info on these missions

Yes, of course I know you made the list. I just didn't think the OP knew of it, or some of the others posting here. I realize it doesn't have all of the filenames, but it's a good list to start from for updating the Wiki. But if you're willing to give some time to it, you certainly now have the knowledge to get it done.

To put light in the dark here: TTLG.de has only a limited bandwidth because exceeding the limit did cost a lot of money for the guy who maintains the site. He wrote about it in a thread here IIRC. Therefore it´s normal that each first days of a new month downloading is possible again but will be stopped soon after a lot of people download missions there. Why so few people use gnartsch´s site is a puzzle for me...
I think it has really all of the missions available and it´s always up to date...

There was a Komag DVD torrent that had everything from 1999-2012, I assume that's no longer available?
I've been using a combination of (
http://www.thiefmissions.com/) + (
http://www.gnartsch.de/Thief-FM/Thief_updates.shtml)
I just go in there and download all the missions from 2006, play them, then download all the ones from 2007 etc. That's the best option I've found for both thoroughness and reliability.
I've been thinking about putting a torrent together when I'm closer to playing them all as well as including my FMSel tags. However I kind of don't even want to mention that, because that's not something that will happen anytime soon. Additionally I need to obsessive-copulsively go through everything to not only make sure I have everything, but set up some consistent rules about what to include. For example, should campaigns and single mission versions be included? (I lean towards yes) What about missions that have multiple versions with aesthetic differences like Mages Area, Fortress by the Sea, or Being Thief 2? I don't want everyone to debate this, I'd probably just include everything anyone might want, but these are things to consider if one were to put this together.

I still have the "original" KOMAG DVD`s , They include original graphics, movies, everything......So if you still interested, i can upload them, or make a torrent. :thumb:
The size is around 35 GB :-)

I would say that more often or not, later versions of most FMs are usually the better game to play, but there are some notable differences, such as Night of the Trickster by savar, who in the original version had a Nazi as the enemy, and so also had Nazi flags adorning the churches walls, this so upset some people that in v_3 he removed the Nazi AI and all references to the Nazi insignia, which in my opinion was a pity as I found it hysterically funny.
Similarly JIS's original T1 Elevator mission was a dark a foreboding mission with a room in the map that kind of reminded me of AMIDA, but it was ridiculously tough to get through, so in the v_2 version not only did he make the mission a lot easier and a lot lighter and colourful he removed possibly (IMHO) the best part of the mission.
But so many missions have been updated over the years and so many older version are still available if you search the DL sites fully, you would increase the size of the torrent by a significant amount, so a bit of research would be advised.
If you do consider putting a torrent together, if you look at my walkthroughs for T1/TG and the soon to be released T3 missions, where 2 versions are still available, if there is significant difference between the original and latest versions, i have usually written a walkthrough for both missions and included a note explaining the differences at the top of each walkthrough.....could save you a bit of research :D

Re: Komag's DVD, it's already a torrent. I think you can search and still find it. So one doesn't need to upload it. All one needs to do is open the existing torrent and save it to your DVD folder -- note all the files still need to be in place -- then after the tracker checks it, takes a minute or two, you're then a seed and it's a live torrent again. I'd do it myself but I don't have internet at home at the moment.
Also note that a few FMs in its period of coverage are not on the DVD, so would need to also go in an update torrent to make things complete.

Komag's DVD's had quite a few outdated versions of the missions. So many actually that the perfectionist in me made me check the mission for newer version every time I played a new one, so the torrent kind of lost its point.

I just found out about this thread. I had the idea of making a torrent for each year. If we don't mind duplicates meaning updates just make a new one once a year. Or we could retroactively update once. Use the most recent version when we first make it but leave it alone afterwards .
Thoughts?
I think therefor I am. Probably.
