Found any special encounters? (Luck 8+) They're out of place, but luckily there aren't too many of them to feel inappropriate.

Aren't special somethings

True, but then again, one of these two is an RPG, the other is a strategy game. The emphases are different, and the comparison isn't really that fair.
Perhaps so, but I'm just sayin', mang.

And buggy. At least the first one.
Oh god! Fallout 2? bugs? The horror! The horror!
Seriously, was there ever a game with more bugs? I mean, all I did was bang the daughter of some mob boss in reno, I didn't expect to walk outside only to find my car and all my companions, which happened to be carrying almost all my stuff, vanished with no way of getting them back. And I just had to save over my last savegame since klamath while I was in there. Gaagh, I'm amazed I even managed to complete the game. I had to start again about 4 times due to game breaking bugs. Still, I'll always remember the old high luck/perception + finesse + more criticals x3 + better criticals + .44 magnum revolver + Metzgers face... ahhh good times. (granted I didn't quite have all those perks at that point in the game but I got them eventually.)

Heh. I'm not even paying attention anymore -- not until I can see a damn screenshot or trailer or something.
Anyhow, the consensus is that the Fallout games are more than decent. They're my favorite role-playing games. Nothing comes close, if you ask me.

Yes, Frontier: First Encounters. At least FO eventually got a half-decent patch that made it playable.
Best bug ever, car breaking in half ftw
steo on 20/4/2007 at 17:09
I wouldn't say half decent, even with the patch gaagh, where to start, it was just so frustrating...

Yes, Frontier: First Encounters.
Oh gods YES.
Also, wasn't one of the Battlecruiser releases very badly bugged?

i have nothing to contribute that hasn't already been eloquently said by PA's tycho:

The forums for the new Bethesda interpretation of Fallout are now open, and the sound is like a hundred thousand bats shrieking as they swirl around a jutting spire of obsidian.

In terms of gameplay they have refined only combat management of your teammates.
You could also push your companions out of the way, didn't have to pick pocket them to give/take equipment, they could
use equipment, use skills and the inventory management system was vastly improved. All things which F1 did very poorly if at all.
About the F3 forums, I find myself agreeing with one of their moderators- the fallout fans are generally behaving
better than I expected and the TES/ Bethsoft fans
worse.
