Agreed.

I really do hope that's not a sign of things to come, and that they just couldn't get a license on a 50s song with the right kind of mood. Though, I can just hear the harpies screaming bloody hell right now.

I'm gonna say they're using placeholder music. It sounds like an unused Oblivion track that didn't mesh well with the rest of the music, but was used here cuz it kinda fit.

The music is by Jeremy Soule, who is all very well and good for medieval fantasy, but that's about all.
This also makes me worry that Fallout 3 will be populated by people whose voices sound uncannily familiar, but whose accents fluctuate on a random basis...

I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't license a song from the 50s or at least make a new one in that style for the final game. It would be silly to make it part of the teaser site, though. Among other things, that would likely drive up the licensing costs.

I believe it was officially described as the 'title track'. They could quite easily have a fifties track for the intro movie as per tradition, if they want to.

Yep, that's how they describe it at shacknews.com.
Hmm.. if they were really interested in proving to fans that this won't simply be Oblivion with guns, this may not be the best way to start. I'm not really going to harp on this too further, but this track really does sound like something left over from Morrowind -- only much more over the top..
I always loved Fallout's mostly ambient soundtrack (save for the 50s tunes). I at least hope it remains that way in game.
I really hope it's not another Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel scenario where the teaser shows off something that's just totally unrecognizable.

Holy Brahmin, that tech demo looks awesome... Actually back in 2001-2 I hoped they would use Tactics engine for F3.
