But is it Games for Windows?
Ask that question again in a year or two from now. They don't even have a publisher yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if GfW Live is in a coffin by that point, TBH.

Seriously, I'm not against what they're going for, but I just think the word "reboot" is inappropriate.
At least they didn't bring it forward to the Dark Age setting, then we'd all be piloting converted ForestryMechs instead.

The series legacy of having silly opening cutscenes?
Well, MechCommander
did feature a MadCat essentially getting taken down by a Raven.

What? MW4 opening cutscene was awesome.

I know! And yet most people ignore my pearls of wisdom. :( It's hard being a visionary.

pearl
I simply cannot hear/read the word "pearl" without thinking of a Pearl Necklace, and then I just wanna titty-fuck.
Damn, I am juvenile sometimes

Apart from being a big fan of Mech 4 and Mechcommander 2, I played the minatures game for a number of years and still have quite the collection (albeit in storage). Hopefully someday I'll find someone to play it with again.
The trailer is very promising. The interview presents good ideas. That said, I'm still concerned about the control scheme. I know they're not just trying to do MechAssault, but MechAssault was the way it was for a reason. When I played Mech 4, I used FAR more buttons on my keyboard then are available on a controller. If I have 5 different weapon systems on my mech, how do I fire them with a controller's limited buttons? How do I switch between active and passive scanning, flush coolant, etc? I'm not trying to be a PC elitist, here - I'm cool with console gaming - but it was my understanding that there was a good reason for the gap between Mechwarrior and MechAssault.

It'll probably be simplified. Active/Passive Radar? Gone. Coolant? Only available with a PRESS X TO FLUSH COOLANT while you're overheating. Weapons might be cycled like in MechAssault, or you could have four weapon systems (triggers + bumpers).
To be honest, MW4 doesn't have many keys that you frequently use. I have four weapon systems, zoom, and target reticule on my joystick, and then I occasionally use next target, jump jets, and flush coolant on the keyboard. That's about it.
Oh, and as for the trailer- Nice aiming with those PPCs.

Yeah, the trailer's pilot is awful (I WILL TAKE DOWN THE ATLAS WITH MY MACHINE GUN ARRAYS!), but that's clearly intentional.
