Wow, EvaUnit's an Aristophanes fan? You hide your tastes better than you should.

If anyone is under the illusion that I'm going to put up with more Thief/Comm Chat shoe gazing crap in here, you've got another think coming.
Ahem.
Monkey Island 2 remake. Hell yes :D

Ok, I know this is going to hijack the thread, but until ME2RM is out what else is there to talk about?
I want to know why everyone hates Escape from Monkey Island. It was admittedly the first ME game I ever played, but at the time (and I'm open to the possibility that I didn't know better, I haven't replayed it lately) I remember good voice acting, an interesting story, and difficult puzzles. I get the impression that people are hung up on the ending, which I can't even recall. It was a long game, after all. And after I played it, I borrowed the original ME from a friend, and liked it too. Didn't seem especially different—at least not enough to warrant the negative vibe.

Escape is the only one I haven't played.
When it came out, the idea of it being 3D used to put me off, especially after the hand drawn loveliness of Curse. Subsequently, I played Grim Fandango where the 3D didn't matter one jot and I wanted to go back for the last Monkey Instalment. But I never got around to it :(

Yes! Awesome! :D
And I agree that it would be nice for Fate of Atlantis (and Last Crusade) to get similar facelifts as well (including the ability to switch between versions).

I think the one thing that put me off about Escape was the art style. Its predecessors all had these hand painted, lovingly crafted, beautifully atmospheric pieces of awesome backdrops. They were awesome to look at, and added a sense of adventure and mystery to the games. Then Escape moved over to those somewhat generic prerendered scenes, which in my opinion killed alot of the charm the series had. Hell, I even thought the old 16-color EGA Atari ST Monkey Island (which is what I first played Monkey Island on) looked better than Escape.
Maybe I'm being a little rough on it, and it's otherwise a great game I'm missing out on. But still....ehh.
