There's a steam demo available, which I may give a whirl at some point (though my backlog is currently FIERCE).

I remember seeing this a while ago, and not being too impressed. I checked out the demo, though, and I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I've only played through the first mini-mission with the Grand Lancer at the end. Somehow I couldn't figure out how to talk to any of my companions, but I realised afterwards that it was because the thing thought I wanted to give voice commands :p. That said, my squadmates' reactions to me totally ignoring them was pretty good!
It's still $50 on Steam. I'd be very tempted if a sale hit, though.
EDIT: I was very impressed that the game let me choose my FOV. Also, was it just me or did the Chinese woman have an accent closer to Spanish?
