Hey BioShock 2 fans!
In August, the Games For Windows LIVE service marketplace closed and some of you wondered what would happen to BioShock 2 on PC. We remain committed to supporting BioShock 2 on PC and are excited to announce that starting today the game is available via Steam. Not only that, but the Steam version of BioShock 2 includes all available multiplayer downloadable content, as well as the single player “Protector Trials” DLC!
With the help of our friends at Digital Extremes, BioShock 2 on Steam fully supports popular features of the platform, including controller compatibility, Steam achievements, and Big Picture mode. Matchmaking is easier than ever now, allowing you to search for “any game,” as opposed to having to select your game mode. Leveling up is also quicker and easier, as we’ve fine-tuned the multiplayer experience to be better than ever.
If you have already purchased BioShock 2 through a different digital partner, we’ve got you covered. Simply take the same game activation key you already own and “activate” it within Steam. Doing this will grant you access to BioShock 2, all of its multiplayer and Protector Trials DLC, as well as Minerva’s Den – the single player story-driven add-on that includes new weapons, enemies, and plasmids!

This is really, really neat, and it's what publishers need to be doing more of.

Maybe this will let me finish the game. It crashes after the sixth level or so for me, and I tried everything to fix it but I never could. This sounds promising.
Also, GFWL marketplace closed? Does that mean they're phasing out GFWL? If so, thank god!

This is awesome. I refused to pick up Minerva's Den on GfWL so now I actually get a chance to play it. I hope my save game files can be ported over painlessly so I can finish the main game too.

I spoke too soon. Still crashes. If only this game had console access so I could just skip to the next level...

Same here. Good to know my non-Steam version will be included so I can finally play Minerva's Den. I hear it's a great DLC.

No, nobody should be excited about closure of GfWL. Without it the dozens of games that use the service will be crippled.

It's absolutely shitty news that MS isn't committed to providing long-term support of their services for their customers.

Luckily the cracks work with most of the GFWL games I have, but they're pretty variable (and only really designed for GTA4 I think). The cracker community needs to get to work on that (har)
Awesome update though. Maybe it'll work past level one now (Minerva's Den was the only reason I wanted to get it in the first place too)

The loss of the online component of Dark Souls is what annoys me most.
icemann on 4/10/2013 at 11:50
Second that 100% and then some. In the case of Dark Souls, it is the online component that really adds to the game in unique ways.
