If you used any layers in your attempt (which looks great IMO), could you also provide a version in PSP and PSD format for those of us with those apps?

I havnt posted anything here in a long while, but I will for this. I often look around for artwork like this. The city at night, our thief done just right... while I have no expertise of any kind to lend, I can say that this is a magnificent piece of work. I am very much impressed.
EDIT
Im understanding right that you are expanding on someone else's work? If thats the case, my highest praise to both of you. Im not sure if I should have seen the original before, but regardless, I love it!

I like it enough already. It'll be interesting to see an improved version.

Specter, that's artwork from the original Thief 1 box, from the same artist who did the famous cover. It's inside the flap which lifts up to reveal the double-high image. Until now (or until when Beleg posted the scan) all I've ever seen was the version covered with text and screenshots. I was very excited to finally get my hands on the original.
And thank you!

Was that same artwork on the Thief Gold box? Gold was the only version I owned which would explain my never seeing it. Either way, I like the idea of expanding on the image to make it more standard in dimensions. Your larger version is something I could see myself wanting to print off in large scale to be framed on my wall. Thats something Ive always wanted to do but wasnt sure was technically feasible. Until now the only other image I would consider doing that to was this one

Although to have the city expanded upon in that one is something I would be greatly interested in. (I do not mean that as a hint for you to do my bidding :) )
Is it possible to have images like these blown up to a poster size? Or are they too low-res?

The original is from a German strategy-guide for thief 1 - don't know if it's in the international as well. It's also partially on the inside of the original box of Thief Gold.

Just depends on what you want to see. Honestly the quality of the printer matters far more than the quality of the image itself, in my opinion. But with that in mind, a very very high quality printer will still make a crappy image look like crap. If you love the image and want to print it out at 36"x48" don't let someone else's judgement of what does and does not look good tell you what to do.
If you have access to a high quality large format printer I don't see why not, but you may want to wait to see if someone wants to produce a better quality version of what I attempted. The original I worked from looks like a scan to me, so maybe someone could try for a higher quality scan job too.

How odd that I dont recognize it when its on the Gold box. The look and feel of Thief is something I like so much that just last month I spend a bit of money to re-acquire copies of Thief Gold and Thief 2 just to have non-abused original boxes. I think I might try to find an original Thief 1 to alongside them.
