Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Before stating my problem, I'd just like to say that it's amazing how you all help each other to enjoy your experience and solve your problems. And I'm very happy to be able to reach out to you!
The problem I'm experiencing is with the game Thief 2: The Metal Age. I've encountered no problems with Thief Gold and I've installed Thief 2 on the same laptop.
My laptop is running on Windows 7. I've installed DirectX 11 and Visual C++ Redistributable Packages.
When I first installed Thief 2 I saw a black screen when starting the game. And I don't mean when starting a mission, but really from the first moments when the movie starts before the menu is shown. I did hear the sounds of the movie and when I escaped from the movie, I still saw the black screen while I could hear the sounds of the menu.
After installing Tafferpatcher I could see the movie in the beginning and the menu. But as soon as the mission starts I see the black screen again while hearing the sounds of the mission. When I enter the menu from the mission, I do see the menu. But when escaping from the menu back to the game, I see the black screen again.
I tried to re-install Tafferpatcher with different settings. Although the problem remains, it looks like the movie in the beginning is being skipped all together so the first thing I see is the menu.
I hope you can help me find the cause for this and solve this problem so I can also start enjoying Thief 2. Thank you in advance!
