Both Raptor and Tyrian ships handled like wet rags.
Agreed, Tyrian was cool back in the day, but only because we didn't know any better

If you saw that screenshot and it interests you at all, I highly recommend you go play it in MAME (preferably with your monitor on its side). It should be required playing for everyone in America

See, this is the kind of place I live to find. Can't find them around here anymore. The last (
http://www.cdaccess.com) one (probably) left several years ago. Where about is this bookstore?
I place called JellyBeans near Grand Blanc, MI (Fenton Rd. and Hill Rd.). They are a "trade-in" place for books, music, movies, games, and memorabilia of all kinds.
But, it's like finding a typewriter store, places like this are becoming a dying-breed.

Wow, mum jokes.

I hate to agree, but I agree. Once you go bullet hell shmup it's very hard to go back.

Yeah, that was great fun. Haven't played it in years, had it on some disk with a demo of Radix: Beyond the Void, a game that attempted to stagger through some mulchy middle ground between Descent and Doom. It was heinously bloated with suckage.
Monster Bash was awesome at the time, loved the Keens from 4 up, and liked Halloween Harry although I could never get into the original Dukes for some reason.
I love those top-down face-up arcade shooters. I liked the "base are belong" one quite a bit, although I can't remember what its name was. Anyone here ever played the freebie (
http://www.freelunchdesign.com/games.php?id=1) Operation Spacehog? Modern game in the retro style, too short, and it's left-right which also loses points instantly, but great game while it lasts with especially frantic 2-player.

No. No it isn't. "Bullet hell" shooters willfully dug
themselves into obscurity.

Presumably you're talking about the insane difficulty that is common of shoot'em-ups? I'd agree, Ikaruga needs to die.
