I've played Blood, and it's loads of fun. I just found that it had a sequel based on the Lithtech engine. Have I just not heard about it because it was crap? Or was it just never widely publicized? In other words, should I see about acquiring it?

I remember playing the demo of Blood 2 back in 1998/1999.
I haven't played the full versions of either, though.

Well, compared to the original Blood, it's a bit crap, but it's a fun game all in all. I say get it. :)

Blood 2 was great IMO.
I'm not sure how well it has aged, but I had an absolute blast with it a few years back. It was well ahead of it's time in terms of the level of violence and black humor. Laundry rooms full of dismembered body parts and plenty of bystanders to slaughter.
There is an airplane-based mission that is not to be missed.
"You will die a slow slow death!"
Here are some tips from Planet Blood to get it running on XP:
Go into the your Blood 2 folder and click on the file called autoexec.cfg. -It will be a notepad file...go into it and type anywhere on the left handside "MaxFps" "30"
Now if you don't want to type it in everytime you play blood 2 also do the same to the defaults file in the folder.
Now click on blood 2 and you know that box comes up with different options click on Advanced and tick these options;
Disable directX 6 commands
Enable optimized Surfaces
Enable poly gap fixing (slower)
Enable triple buffering
and tick Always specify these command-line parameters just to be on the safe side but don't type anything in the command-Line box.

I have to second this. It's not bad, but don't expect it to be as good as the first Blood either. I've started playing Blood 2 numerous times, but only managed to finish the game once (and that isn't related to the difficulty level, unfortunately), whereas I've played through the original Blood at least three times.

Thanks all, I think when I finish Blood I'll give it a try.

Its less humorous than the original but has loads of good stuff imho. I still count the lab level including ripping thru hordes of cultist soldiers with dual uzis to my most memorable fps moments :ebil:

Upgraded my graphic card after downloading the demo with a 56k modem. I regret doing both.

It's an alright blast I guess, but the original had this great spooky atmosphere underlying the cornball aspects and actually managed to be scary at times.
The sequel gets rid of all that so all you're really left with is corn.
