. If you have visible legs, they'd either require a broader path or pass right through the boxes.
I don't know about Garrett, but I always sneak sideways. Chest facing forward, but a twist at the hips and legs are diagonally or completely sideways, allowing for more careful stepping.
My point? If legs are visible and rendered sideways-stepping, then the collision aforementioned will not be an issue.

Isn't it odd to make a barely veiled dig at someone while asking said person/persons not to make digs at others?
It's not a dig. Honestly. It's a plea for civility.

This thread hasn't seen a post in a month and it is an interesting topic and as I said in it (and got bullshit from Subjeff in response) there was movement on both sides and some understanding, even from those most rigid in their views.
I know Subjeff got on your case for saying that, which I think was really in poor taste.

But it's not helping to come in and try and stir it up again, saying all these people are great, lovely, wonderful saints, (mainly, it seems, because they have a point you agree with) and those people are bad, evil muck throwers. (Old wounds maybe?)
That was not what I said. I was thanking the people on the pro side for
representing the pro side - and I certainly didn't call them saints (did you not notice I mentioned they
weren't always civil?). I
also thanked several people on the con side for being constructive. Through what sort of darkened lens did you read my post?

And again, to ask for no more ongoing feuds and at the same time bringing up an argument which is gone, is a crap way of acting.
It's precisely because things
have settled down a bit that I'm saying it now. Hopefully with cooler heads, everyone can look back in hindsight and resolve not to repeat this sort of aggression in the future.

Not be insensitive or anything, but it's really up to the devs. I doubt they run around forums desperate for people's opinions. Most probably they will re-introduce the body-awareness of DS, if that is of any comfort to it's fans.
The Shroud on 17/11/2009 at 18:53
It's true that it's up to the devs, but like just about everyone else here (cons and pros), I'd hope it would be implemented better than it was in TDS if they do decide to go that route.
Bakerman on 17/11/2009 at 21:52
Well, it's just the same as discussing anything on this forum. I don't really believe we'll influence the devs, but who cares? It's fun to discuss.
The Shroud on 17/11/2009 at 22:52
At worst, they'll ignore it. At best, it'll give them insight into how players feel on both sides of the issue.

Oh, I know. I was just providing more reasons against fights and personal attacks.

In real life when you're checking your immediate surroundings like for example, looking at what's next to you on the floor, at first you can't because your shoulder is on the way but you automatically move your arm back to see past it. You don't need to consciously rotate your body to a position where your head can get a good view of the location you're trying to look at.
This is why body awareness is useless. When you grab an object, you don't look at your arm saying to yourself "That's pretty neat, to be able to see one's arm". You don't try to look at your feet to find out what kind of shoes you're wearing, it was you who put them on for taff's sake!

I know what you're saying, but many of us are also advocating being able to turn your head (i.e. the camera) separately from the rest of your body, as in Arma 2, which would eliminate this minor annoyance (not to mention it would allow for the player to check right and left without altering their direction of movement). As for the specific example you gave of having to move your shoulder to see the ground at your side, I imagine that the model's upper body would automatically twist slightly to the side whenever you look down to your left or right (or possibly just the shoulders/arms). It doesn't need to be a manually-controlled action, it's naturally how anyone would move.

Of course not, but I don't think that's the reason any of us are advocating a visible body in the first place. The point is not so that you can admire your shoes. That's not what this is about.
