Book recommendation for Thief fans... - by Asaki

I just finished reading it, and I thought you all should know:
The Great Train Robbery, by Michael Crichton. A semi-fictional account of a true story, really elaborate sneakings going on in the Victorian era...I was having some serious Thief flashbacks while I read it.
Especially that train mission in T2X, really good read \m/
I'll have to check out the movie while it's still on Hulu.

Mwah.
All Thief (and Silent Hill) fans should read House of Leaves, reminds me of the completely whacked out The Sword mission.

The movie is pretty bad in my opinion. But the book was wonderful. Very good recommendation Asaki. That's one of my favorites.

Is it? I was expecting it to be decent, being written/directed by Crichton himself...
Oh well, certainly won't be the worst movie I've sat through.

The book had a very serious tone to it, and it cast Mr. Pierce and all of his associates in a very professional light. By the end, I found myself in admiration the Pierce's genius, and the drive and professionalism of each member of his little group.
The book tries to go for a more light-hearted approach. The characters are much more affable. It feels more like Pierce and Agar are stumbling their way through the whole ordeal.
Maybe you'll have a different opinion than I, but I would temper your expectations of the movie a bit before seeing it.

It does seem a bit more like half of their luck really was just luck in the movie, but I can understand why he made some of the changes that he did.
Apparently he made quite a few artistic liberties anyway in the novel, so who's to say how it really happened?
It was really cool to see everything, though. The London Bridge Station looked a lot like how I imagined it, except on the outside, where now I can totally understand why they needed Willy for the job.
