Well, her brother is the writer on the Borderlands games and also that TV show, so there you go.

Did her brother contribute to the writing of A:CM too?
Her character Reid was definitely the best in that game, even pointing out the plot holes.

He's a writer at Gearbox, so probably.

Great that he has a day job. Many of these "Youtube gaming personalities" live off of it. It's a dumb move, especially with quite a few gaming-related videos being copyright claimed by 3rd parties recently.

Doing what you love and getting paid for it isn't a "dumb move", even if the job security isn't 100% assured.

I'd say that on paper BL1 & 2 do seem bland. What drove me to complete both, buy season pass for DLC and even plough on in to NG+ is not something I can put my finger on, but I'm guessing is likely linked to some ambiguous predilection, since some people who clearly are discerning gamers are also getting a decent and sustained kick from it.
I like the levelling and skills system - as with all games involving levelling and perks, I eagerly await the next incremental chance to mess with the texture of the game. I also like the different PCs and their distinct style and special powers etc... The enemies can be pretty cool and varied, and BL2 stands out for me as being one of the few games with robot enemies which are enjoyable to fight.
What I've found is the best way to approach both games is to be picky with which side quests you do. So try to do ones which are in areas you are visiting anyway, avoid ones which sound boring or yield rewards which don't excite you. Try not to level too quickly either. I've only played MP a few times and loved how much harder it makes the game, but got tired of playing with strangers. Perhaps when I am set up in my new place, I might holler for some TTLG hook ups.

Especially considering that he got the day job on the strength of his work as a YouTube Gaming Personality.

Unsurprisingly, footage from the Pre-Sequel looks exactly like Borderlands:
