what impression did that trailer give you - more Stalker or more Kill Bill?
Err, yeah, its more bambambam. But then it always was. Its not like that has changed with the cel shading.

It isn't cel shaded apparently, its ...outlined or some bullshit.
Which makes me wonder if there's a point in differentiating between the two when the end result is basically the same.

Exactly, it was always going to have post-Call of Duty 2 console shooter mechanics, since 360 was always the lead platform. If someone believed otherwise then they're delusional.

Also, is this EvaUnit's new thing, or what? He came in, made a strawman out of catbarf's post, promptly menstruated all over it, and then
left. Either that or he's quietly
enjoying the fireworks.
I would've replied, but dethtoll's first post said everything that I would've argued. So a post at that point was redundant.

Well, granted, I didn't keep up with this game a lot before, so if that was already the style they were going for, you're right, the cel-shading wouldn't have turned anything on its head and maybe catbarf had simply formed an inaccurate first impression. I do feel, however, that the cel-shaded graphics are actually a better fit, more conducive to achieving said style than the straight-forward visuals showcased before.

He was talking about the game's mood, not its mechanics.

That's not the point. If someone had thought that a game developed primarily for the stereotypical Xbox audience would've wound
anything like Stalker, stylistic, gameplay or otherwise, then they would've been barking up the wrong tree... 300 acres away in the next field.

Forgive me for thinking that the game would be like how Gearbox described it in the previews.
Edit:
The co-op system sounds interesting- no more having to coordinate games or have a separate multiplayer character. I'm curious as to how it'll work on PC- a game browser or possibly its own friends service?

Okay, first off, by "he" I meant SubJeff. The post you replied to was discussing the stylistic element of the game and how "that wasn't changed by cel-shading", whereas you continued as if it were about mechanics, that's what I pointed out.
Second, to address your point - yes, assuming that Stalker's
gameplay could be encountered in a game targeted at consoles primarily is completely unrealistic in the current context of our industry, but I don't see how that extends to a game's artistic style. Though I am open to any arguments you have for that.
P.S. For anyone it slipped past, the image SubJeff put up earlier is from this (
