If you have Borderlands from Steam, back up your saves before launching the game. Since the Steam patch there's been reports of saves being corrupted.

Saves are typically found here:-

FYI, (
http://kotaku.com/5835202/new-borderlands-patch-will-test-borderlands-2-tech-adds-steamworks) the patch adds more Steamworks options like Cloud saving (save game remote backups) and anonymous in-game stat tracking (this feature is a beta test for Borderlands 2. I.e. to give them feedback on what gun classes player's prefer, etc.).
Also they seem to have removed the SecuROM DRM from DLCs Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Max Moxxi's Underdome, since I can teleport to either DLCs' location and had neither activated.

Phew....seems I was lucky. My save appears to be ok since I loaded it up and played for a bit (prolly should back up just in case...hurr).
