That was my point, idiot. Instinctively associating the event and islamic terrorism just because chechnya is predominantly muslim is a stupid thing to do. In this case the association proves true, which is why I didn't bother with a response but if you want to insist, yes, such an association was as idiotic as pinning the Oklahoma city bombings on religion because the U.S.A. are predominantly Christian.
When someone responds to you in a polite, or at least non-rude fashion, it's generally bad form to call them an idiot.
To address your point however:
I did not link anything to terrorism, just providing info on why it is likely they are muslim. This is not of import to
me, because I do not think that these acts are caused by people being muslim, but by people being inclined to use violence to make ideological points. Specific religion does not account for this. False syllogisms and that.
However, to ignore the fact that a large number of US citizens are now going to be crowing about how all muslims should be deported / screened / imprisoned / treated as suspect, and are going to be (as already seen) victimising anyone who looks like they might be a muslim, then it bears mentioning.
Giving me the benefit of the doubt might have been nice.

I'll repeat the question in my last post. It's a little more complicated in that Chechnyan terrorism in Russia has been as much about politics as religion. Also (contradicting the point I just made a bit), these guys are young, and did it as brothers; it sounds like something they cooked up just talking to each other than as part of any vast movement.
So it seems like packaging them up in the 'Muslim terrorism as usual' bag doesn't answer so many questions. Even if it is religiously motivated, that doesn't suddenly speak for some vast movement by itself either. Not that many people or the media are predisposed to "split hairs" on it, since the rhetoric rarely distinguishes a billion people from Morocco to Indonesia, and expats pretty much everywhere else.
It could be for a number of reasons. It could be that it isn't even a function of them being muslim
or Chechnyan.
One thing is for sure though - the press are going to be dining out on the speculation for a few weeks.

I don't call posting a link only, highlighted in bold without any other text or argument especially polite but eh.

Was this attack planned over a period of years, an isolated attack by two idealistic & zealous young men (dema's supposition sounds about right here), or part of a larger plot wherein those two men just played a small part?
From what I've heard on the radio, the shootout with police at the university was from a hold up at 7-11. They were desperate and needed money to escape since they didn't expect to be ID'd. That means they didn't make much of a plan. Maybe crafty with the IEDs but not really very well planned out. They would've had an escape route or some plan to get out if they were discovered. I guess they just figured they'd never be discovered.

Hmm so is the only proof some probably blurry CCTV footage so far, or is there more concrete evidence? Everyone seems so dead-set on this guy, blaming chechnya the muslims but can we really be certain that's the case ? What if these guys are just proving a fantastic accidental scapegoat?

Are you kidding or just in an area where there's been literally no coverage of what's happened in the past 12 hours?

Russian news agency RIA Novosti says "extremist material" was on the YouTube account belonging to Tamerlan Tsarnaev. "Several albums were posted, one of them titled 'Terrorist'. The album contains two video clips, which are inaccessible, because the account linked to them has been removed. Also on the playlist there are conversations about the religion of Fayz Mohammad, who is famous for his radical utterances," RIA Novosti said.
There was also a video on his page of the Chechen folk singer Timur Mutsurayev, some of whose songs have been put on a list of extremist material by the Russian justice ministry, the news agency reports.

I wouldn't call it inflammatory either.
I always post links in bold so they are more obvious.
Seriously, benefit of the doubt. Unless I clearly mean you ill, don't assume.
