I think that's the consensus position of scientists, my friend. E = hf
You don't even need ET to tell you that much.

I saw that you did a "spin" free of "charge". :p
This was a good one, made me chuckle :D I was trying to think of an electron joke, but I seem to have lost all my electrons. I used to be a realist, now I'm just grossly positive all the time.

I know is hard to believe, but since they have about a million years of accumulated knowledge, we would need to unlearn our wrong teachings and beliefs to understand their tech/science.
That reminds me of a thought I had about why aliens haven't "visited".
What if you developed an advanced knowledge of what consciousness is, and how to work with it, even being able to split off an AI simulacrum, have that AI have experiences, then you were able to re-synthesize the AI into your meat brain, such that YOU had the full memories of those experiences as if you really did them?
With sufficiently advanced abilities, you might get to the point that there's literally no difference between doing this and having the "real" experiences. So, sending physical aliens in a ship might just be an extremely inefficient way of doing things, when you can send much cheaper AI probes, and if the probe survives and returns or sends a data payload, any alien can meld with the experiences of the probe to really see what happened.
So, the basic idea is to imagine they could scan your brain, project that into an AI, then the AI has simulated experiences, and they're then able to project these experiences back into your meat brain. This is far fetched but not inconceivable with our current technology, but think about it in a century, 1000 years, 10000 years or a million years.
So it's an interesting thought-experiment. If you could split off part of yourself as an AI, then the AI has simulated experiences, possible sped up, or possible in parallel, and/or they splice memories together to make it more efficient, then you could get years worth of experiential memories in a day, and you *feel* like you lived lifetimes, mastered arts and skills, without needing to spend the time.
And, if there are million year old aliens, they clearly HAVE the level of tech to do all this, so imagining that some actual alien is going to shove themselves in a tin can and fly for years to another solar system to point some probe instruments at probably uninteresting planets: we think that's what you would do, but, we're basically small children when it comes to thinking about this stuff.

http://www.infinityplus.co.uk/stories/perimelasma.htm) Here's a story from a NASA dude that deals with that exactly, with the added bonus being it's about going through a black hole. Well, the journey's the meat of the story, really but hey - it's a good read. I always link it when I have an excuse to.
