I had this insane idea of recreating the original Thief levels in T3, perhaps approximating the Return to the Cathedral.
I wonder if some of the fan missions could be recreated in T3. Calendras Cistern would be cool in T3, for what I have seen of it T2X would be great in the T3 engine.
With the Minialist project, and John P's textures, I am really enjoying T3, and I am an oldschool T1/T2 player.
After I finish playing T3, I might make levels.

The fact is that the Thief 3 engine is difficult to use for FM's, and so many FM authors prefer not to use it.

This was discussed over in the T3 Editor forum a few times, but it would be a huge amount of work, and most of us over there would rather make new levels rather than convert old ones we can play anyway. But if you're interested you can get basic bsp for the TG OMs (

A list of problems:
a) Textures. The whole point of using the newer engine is to make the game look better. It won't look better if you don't redo all of the textures. Do you have a team of artists handy?
b) Missing/changed equipment. No rope arrows. Holy water works differently. Heck, the holy water alone is a problem in the Return to the Cathedral mission. Just attract the attention of a large number of undead, run through a door and toss down a vial. Your pursuers will all die when they run onto it.
c) Lockpicks are now a minigame. Remember the first Cathedral mission? When breaking into the Keeper hideout you need to quickly pick the lock before the wall crushes you. People who are good at the lockpicking minigame won't get that sense of tension because they can fly through the lock. People who are bad at it are going to end up as a Garrett pancake.
d) Different lighting. I'm not sure how much this will change things - but the addition of casting shadows and the ability of the AI to notice them will make a difference. Some locations might become impossible because of this.
e) Swimming is no longer possible.
It is a nice idea, but only if you can mod the Thief 3 engine to be a lot more like the first two.
