Silver ONI, while this may be somewhat less than what you hoped for, if all that you claim is true, I think you should seriously consider offering your services to the fan mission design community.
Many dozens of FMs are in development, with several released each month, and I am sure that more than one would have need of a female voice actor or someone to write or help write for the story of the missions.

Wow, even that would be wonderful to be able to do! Although I am not really familiar with any fan mission prior, I would be thrilled to take part in the Thief community in any way shape or form. All I need is for someone to give me some tips on how get get involved, what I need to do and I'll be happy to help with anything anyone needs.
Also, I have not tried contacting CalmBeforeTheStorm yet. I'll get myself more involved when we're told that this is still going on. For now, I'm happy to have that FM offer.

While we wait for an official word on the status of the movie...:
Acting for an FM will require the right gear for capturing your performance, but writing and contributing enthusiasm and opinion will give you plenty of rewarding work as an FM hobbyist!:D
Introduce yourself in the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=85) The Editors' Guild. This is where the FM makers get together and help each other, and anybody with a modicum of talent can get their hands dirty.
The (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=100) Thief Fan Missions forum is where the players gather and wait for harvest time when the fruits of the FM makers labors are greedily consumed.:p
I'm half-joking, of course. The two forums overlap and feed off each other, and keep the creativity, moral support, and technical support going. Constructive criticism and sharing of knowledge are most-welcome.
Let the community know what you have to offer. A warning though: It may become an addiction!:ebil:

I think CalmBeforeTheStorm IS the project. You probably won't hear much about it until they post here, or you contact them privately.

I am glad to see that this is still watched. Those who have shown interest, I appreciate it, and your patience. Right now, living in North Hollywood, my life has been consumed with life. I want to get my previous film work online to show everyone but the computer that has them is back from where I moved. I am planning a trip back to retrieve them as well as produce the small, visual short for thief that I said I would do. Meanwhile I am working on putting atleast pics from my previous work as well as the costume shots for the thief short, as well as the script to the small, visual short. I would love to hear comments. So I am currently working on this, but as far as a larger project, I would like to hear all your thoughts on how to approuch this. The purpose of the small short is to be a fire starter, to get people excited, involved. I am a filmmaker with a nice camera and want to prove my worth by providing a visual short. But to work with others to get something larger going would be great. I am all for it. I would like to hear peoples ideas on what the best approuch would be in any aspect. As a filmmaker I'm slowly working on making it down here, and I will always keep Thief close in mind. I apologize once again for the thief short being unfinished. If the original shooting date was able to be done, it would have been done months ago. But it is still very important to me and still will be produced soon. I am planning a trip back in march. Until then I will work on getting the other things up and would love to hear what others want to do, how we would do it, and getting it started.

Well, first things first, people...before we start generating an overwhelming and emotional wishlist, or start backseat filmmaking.
CalmBeforeTheStorm, a great first step for the fan community would be to get us those samples of your work. If finding a place to upload your files becomes an issue, ask around here.
Making samples available will show how serious you are. Samples that show promise will definitely generate excitment.

Okay. Here's my input:
In the meantime, there are other threads where a Thief film was discussed. I'd suggest you take a look and see the sentiments expressed, and find the patterns.
Play the games, study the texts, cutscenes, briefings, and sound files. I can help with that. Saturate youself. Study the canon, find the holes, see how you could fill the holes without contradicting something else as much as possible.
Determine your audience. If it's fans, be precise with canon as much as possible, as much as the medium allows. If it's non-Thief fans and/or those who've never heard of it, try to do the material justice. You will get brutal responses, and have to repeat yourself ad infinitum, no matter what you do. Again, there are many threads, even now, where the fans express what they like and don't like about the games. Where nearly everybody agrees become your foundation. Garrett's story would require multiple movies, or have to be filmed as a mini-series or a serial, maybe webisodes. Or The City, events, and people are the backdrop for a new character's story.
It seems your biggest issue will be putting together a dedicated, committed crew, who will work for the experience. You'll need people who are good at what they do, are respectful of the games and your intended audience, and won't add or subtract to show off their own ideas.

Okay, I'm still waiting for another reply, but I'm sure he's busy with other stuff, so, I'm willing to wait. I agreed to jump on as a writer (Considering that the last guy seems to have disappeared) Right now we're talking about what we want to do. You're the veterans, I'm the newbie, I really want the community's opinion.
What do you want to see? What do you not want to see? I'm going into research about what the fans want now, but if I could get even more word than what has already been stated in this thread, that would make life so much easier. And this thread hasn't said much.

Here's what the community thinks of screenplays that deviate too much from the universe established by the canon.

Poor crazy jon. He was up front with everybody that he wasn't sticking to the canon, nor was he interested in actually getting the screenplay made into a real movie.
None of us are filmmakers, and we have other Thiefy things consuming too much of our time to try to become one.

thanks for the insight. I'll work on getting my work online.
