locations are in the works and where I live, I've already got some great ones. I have access to an old abandoned cottage from the early 1900's. I've go property up in the mountains so if dense forest is needed. Along the coast is a gaint WWI fort that has giant stone and cement rooms, underground passage ways, giant iron doors, etc. A lot can be done with just these three locations.

I love the contrast between the surprise reappearance of a forum oldie and a newbie quoting the entirety of a post directly above his own.
yeah, and your point is?...

None really. Don't try to apply logic to this place. It's not your average Internet board.
That said...threads/posts/ideas such as yours have come and gone a thousand times over the years, so don't let skepticism get you down. But don't expect tons of folks to jump upon the wagon either just because you have an idea. There is a "show me something" factor involved here and if you have yet to show us something you don't have the credibility to generate a following. Nothing personal, you could be the next George Lucas but even he had to start somewhere.
So if you have examples of your work, show us. We're all about accomplishing stuff around here. I made a post about doing voice work for fan missions about 4 years ago but folks wanted proof. I submitted same. I'm now Garrett's unofficial voice and have voiced dozens of other characters. (Damn Fett...If you think I suck you could have said so by now..no hard feelings you douche bag:p :p ...but fett makes some good points too.)

Well of course it can't perfectly replicate the look but the XL2 can do the frame rate and shutter speed of of 35mm camera. And it has the ability to actually transfer to 35mm film. Good enough for me, despite not having to pay a fortune to film something. And yes, I know it's limitations I just wanted to portray that I don't have some low end consumer cam.
Frame scan modes in prosumer cams is another can of worms entirely. But I won't derail things into that direction. And you can do a 35mm blowup on phone cam footage if you really want to. For your tens of thousands of dollars it will of course look like phone cam footage printed to 35mm.
(the comment about the quote thing; unnecessarily quoting things is something that's often the sign of a forum beginner. And jumping in to derail the discussion with negative-seeming nitpicks is the province of old guys like me)
Aaanyway, I said I wouldn't derail. I'm curious though. The plan so far is that the writing is a fan thing, preferrably, (possibly with storyboards and pre-vis as well) but you and your friends handle the shoot (necessarily, I would think); lights, sets, actors, costumes, camera, sound etc. Then stuff gets farmed out in post production for titles, visual effects, post sound, music and so forth. Do I have that right?
How do you see it at this point? Is it live action with live sets, or a lot of blue/green screen or an animation hybrid with a lot of silhouettes on drawn/cg backdrops? Just curious.

well right now its in the most beginning of stages. But if possible a little bit of everything but mainly live action is what I'm thinking. I'm in the process of networking and finding people who are in the digital effects realm. But while the writing and idea process is going on among anyone who wants to get involved (Keeper Jonas is 1), I am planning on shooting some test footage to try and get the look down - for example like the intros to the games. I've already have location ideas and a lot of the clothing/props I already have so I'm going to give it a shot, edit the footage and post it online for feedback. Hopefully getting more people involved. But that will still be some time before I do that but it will be soon.

I have a experimental film that is being finished that is a dark medieval piece. When it is done, I'll be sure to put it online. Right now a score composer is working on it. If you go to
moreimportantly.com there is screentest footage I shot for pre production to a screenplay(edited with music). A friend of mine works for paramount in L.A. and has a small production co. and it was his screenplay. On page one of this thread I listed sites which explains a film fest win I had in a 72hour 5min. film competition. I also list where the film is located so it can be watched. Unfortunately that's all that I have online and it doesn't show full potential but more will come. If anyone does go and watch these, keep in mind that these are entirely different from how a thief film would be done. I wish I had examples more to that genre. In time I will. Also I'd like to hear your Garret voice!

Play frobber's A Keeper of the Prophecies series...or just unzip some of the missions and listen to the raw audio.
Again, good luck with your project.:thumb:

Ah! Apologies mate! I haven't heard yours, so I wasn't aware we had another resident Garrett impersonator! Been trying to play KotP for about a year and something always interferes. To me, Lazarus' sparse, but dead on Garrett VO's really made some of the early FM's back in the early 00's, so keep it up! :)

Damn fett...you're waaaaayyyyyy behind if you haven't run across me yet. But it was Loanstar that did the voice for Garrett in the early years funny thing though...Purah contacted me regarding CL and I said no 'cause I was doing AKOTP for frobber at the time. Hind sight being 20/20 I could have easily done both. But Loanstar did a great job on CL so it's all good in the end. Laz did the AVI's for CL and other missions including my first "Fletcher's Final Mistake." Actually FFM is a good example of my Garrett.
