I know the buzz about this that did exist is gone and I and nothing has happened with this. But I just moved down to Hollywood, joining my friend who's already climbing the industry ladder and thief is ever present in my mind. the short film is on a long delay but getting it's foot in the door here is where it's at and will actually make a difference so that's what I'm gonna do. To all those thief fans who want and believe thief should be a film and done right- I'm going to do my best to create an avenue for it. A long time it shall be.

To convince people to believe in your project, you need to do more than post a few empty promises in the forums every other month or so. I haven't seen you provide any proof that you're even a filmmaker, let alone that you're serious about doing a Thief film (despite several requests for such things).
Any reason we should have any faith in you, besides your super cheery and positive attitude?

why the need to be so negative? clearly comments like that show you haven't been following this. I have given proof that I am a filmmaker and have given the availability to some of my work. and yes i only answer this when there is something to say. I'm down here in L.A, bustin my ass off to get in this industry, networking, already with projects lined up to get into the short category for film fests. you say all talk, that's all I can give right now. I'm workin hard. I moved down here with nothing accept my expensive camera and a buddy who's already in the industry. and i happen to be a thief fan, and a die hard one. so if you think this is stupid, don't comment, dont even bother with seeing what this is about if all you can be is critical. atleast I'm down here turning my dreams into reality and bringing thief along the way. where are you? what are you doing? I'm doing something about it. and I'll always have thief in the back of my mind, because it's brilliant and has strong potential for the screen. i'm not gonna waste anymore words.

A Thief movie will have to do the games justice while serving the motion picture medium. Casting of the main characters will have to be as close to a happy medium as possible. The characters shouldn't have new abilities or lack the ones they have in the games. Like the idea of a Thief 4, it shouldn't dismiss anything established that made fans of us to begin with. Anything new should not be forced in to solve a problem or because the filmmakers are pleasing themselves. If you introduce elements, or misunderstand, or dismiss established elements, make them logical to the audience if the audience is intended to be Thief fans.
I've always loved the idea of an animated Thief movie done in the style of T1/T2 cutscenes. Otherwise, you'd have to be a genius filmmaker to make Viki and Tricky work. Collector Towers could be done with time and money to animate them. Rope arrows deploying, special arrowheads shattering and releasing the elemental power within. Garrett's eye might require a special contact lens or even a fake head of the actor showing a prop mechanical eye or the removal of a prop natural eye.
Unless you had a completely different approach in mind.:sly:

Yes, it must be concieved in the most purist of fashions- characters, story, art direction, etc. I think that if and when something big happens for this, the entire team who was involved in the creation of THIEF should be brought on board to create the vision and/or be used as consultants to make sure things are fleshed out properly or held within certain boundaries, because yes, this is for the fans, and yes its to show how amazing this world, this character, and this concept is. the hard and interesting part is the adaptation to a screenplay because there is a formula to it and that translation will be the hardest part. How to adapt properly unlike the rest of these garbage game to film translations. But it definately needs to start with being purist, because that hasn't been done. I feel very strongly about this, even if it may harm the project in other ways, it must be purist to the material. But I agree with what your saying and yes, a lot of minds need to be brought together to concieve and achieve the visual style THIEF, for that will be equally hard as the adaptation to a screenplay.
