Eve since playing this game every game I have tried to play has problems:
the characters see me and shout "thief" etc. but they cannot move and have their arms stretched out, like in a T formation.
I cannot use my blackjack or sword, and cannot seem to use some objects.
Is this a bug? Anyone know what might have happened or how I might fix it?

Where do you need to use the rope-arrow?

You need at least two rope arrows in mission 2. You can find some west of the market inside the stone hut with a canopy in front of it.

Sounds like your game somehow lost its MotionDB.bin file.

Thanks Eshaktaar , asking for directions earlier would have saved me considerable hair pulling . :)

well ..... erm .... speechless ..... gobsmacked ..... stunned even
the mission I played before this was Rocksbourg #3 and that blew the bar away never mind raising it then this comes along and does the same
around 11 and a half hours of complete immersion and total enjoyment, not to mention heart pounding sweaty palmed excitement
thank you, you are on the beer list, I have no higher accolade :thumb:

I do have one question, not really for Eshaktaar, more for game developers like Eidos
the authors of these fan missions are working with 10 year old technology and they are coming up with missions that kick the arse of anything I can buy in the shops, if I could get games like these with modern engines I would buy them
I do not like racing cars, I do not like competing to see who can make the biggest explosion or kill the most AI, I do like flight sims on occasion but only now and then, I absolutely lurve first person stealth but there's none available except for the three thief offerings (and I'm only just counting deadly shadows there)
... and all the FM's of course :ebil:
please please please please somebody out there with a games company must read these forums occasionally, make these authors an offer they can't refuse, throw money at them, anything, just get away from huge explosions, shiny cars, scripted sequences where you go and make a cuppa while your hero goes through ten minutes of choreographed mayhem dispatching everyone in the room after you press a certain sequence on the controller and
GIVE US SOME TAFFING STEALTH !!!!!
.....erm ..........sorry went a bit ott there :o

I'm with you on this - as I keep saying if the polycount limit and texture memory restrictions were removed, and shadowcasting was added the Dark engine could likely compete with most modern games graphically WITHOUT needing that pixel shader nonsense (that makes everything too 'glossy' and cartoonish)... Really that's all ANY thief fan wants for improvements and why among die-hard Thief 1&2 players like myself Deadly Shadows was a complete and miserable /FAIL/ as from a gameplay standpoint 3 was a step backwards.
Again, I'd love to see Deadly Shadows backported to run in TMA. Hell, the whole game could probably fit on a single level. (the keeper library in Broken Triad, and the Order Library in Rocksburg 3 show the real possibility of doing this too)
You are quite correct though - Broken Triad and the Rocksburg series aren't just better gameplay than most of the schlock being produced right now (or having it's potential ruined by consolitus) - They are flat out amazing given the restrictions of Dromed and Dark engine.

Well said Esme - agree totally with what you wrote. Some of these great authors already do work for game companies and, from the interview at Southquarter, I believe Eshaktaar is going to be joining that list. How one gets Eidos et al to produce something stealthy though, I have no idea. Bombard them with emails from all TTLGers on a daily basis perhaps!
In the meantime, I'm hoping that the point'n'click game that Eshaktaar is working on is for public consumption because his puzzles are just amazing.

The "other" game will be out soon, and I'm trying to finish my website at the same time. There will be a Thief section with some info about my FMs and a page with downloadable content (objects, textures, etc.) I made for Broken Triad.
