Yeah, that is the biggest downfall for old games, they become inferior to the updated technology (not the mapmaking and the stories mind you). However, for Thief I don't think it will ever be the case, especially with all the committed authors out there, like Eshaktaar, and with the Dark Mod around the corner. It has truly immortalized Garrett.

About my problem that I'm unable to load after visited room with jittering coffins - the only way I found is to edit_load_game in editor, remove coffins, associated objects and room brush itself and rebuild room and AI databases.
I think it is most "modern" (in meaning of design and technical details) FM I ever played! I don't know what could be the next:)

Halfway through the second part of this gorgeous mission, & it really is a major masterpiece of Thief artistry. The Tempest Isle has already become one of my very special Thief places. Many thanks to Eshaktaar for such a sublime experience.

Oops. Sorry. I originally posted this question on the wrong thread. Didn;t realize there was a special part two thread.
In mission 2 -- which, by the way, is outstanding; you've taken my favourite OM of all time and put life into it again and I'll be forever grateful for that -- I sent Garrett down a well in a sort of mausoleum area, and now he is trapped between two sets of bars with corridors between, patrolled by undead. I've tried the special water arrows but I can never get two or more undead close enough together to get the arrows to work properly.
I don't really care about that; I'd just like to get out of there. It's been nice, really it has, but it's time to move on. The company's not that great down there. :cheeky: But how?

Fraser Once you've gone back to the place where you entered the tomb and the gate has closed, the one at the far end opens. Beyond it, turn to the left and into the hallway where you first dropped down into the crypt. You can rope arrow up there.
Fraser on 24/9/2008 at 05:23
No, the bars don't open at either end. I've been back and forth a coupe of times. Is there a switch I'm supposed to find?.
Yandros on 24/9/2008 at 12:29
I thought there's a lever back at the far end to open that gate, but I may be confusing it with an earlier version or a different mission.
Nightwalker on 24/9/2008 at 14:24
Nope. I just replayed that bit to check it and make sure I remembered correctly. Once you have the pyramid key and head back to the area where you came in, a gate drops to block it. At the same time, if you look through the closing gate, you can see the gate across the hallway rising. That's the gate at the far end of the tomb area. Of course, once you go through the far gate, you still have to rope arrow up through the hole in the ceiling that you dropped down through originally.
If that didn't happen for you, fraser, then you may have hit a bug but it's not one I've seen mentioned before. Do you have a save from before you entered the tomb? If you do, try starting over and when you try to get out and the gate closes to block your way, check that other gate to see if it's going up.
Fraser on 25/9/2008 at 03:25
I'll check. I'm pretty sure I have an earlier save, although I spent a lot of time down there going back and forth trying to figure out what to do.
I'll let you know, anyway.
....It's fine. Just me being stupid. I didn't realize that the gate at the 'far" end that was blocking me was really the gate I started from. I didn't look in *every* direction. I've changed the gamma on my laptop so that things are easier to see. It spoils the atmosphere a bit, but it might cut down on my annoying questions.
