Oh, foop. Just as I was really getting somewhere in the mission my game started crashing. Hopefully a reinstall will take care of it.

I'm back in the game.
Question: In the Necropolis, I can see what I have to do to open the door using the jackals. I can open one of the plates that opens the way for the beam. The other one, I can't get to.
Right after I get past the big lava pit, there's a stairway off to the left. When I go up the stairs towards the obelisk that says something about the perceptive person seeing the light, I can see an opening overhead, and a beam that would take me right over the plate, but there's no way to get up onto the beam, because the beam and everything else around it is made of stone. There are no handy boxes to climb on.
How do I get up there?
Edit: Never mind. Found it.
Also I found the secret in that same room, where the door finally opens, but I can find no way to get down to it from the beams. I've tried from either side but I just end up falling. Is there something else I need to do, or does it just depend on jumping skill?

You can safely drop down from the beams if you aim for the ledge below so you don't fall the entire height. From there you can reach the button with a well-aimed broadhead arrow. It's much easier if you've got the Staff of Far Reach from mission 1, though. In that case you can go upstairs to the corridor that leads to a green obelisk and shoot the button from a small window. The secret will be revealed directly behind you.

Got it. :D
And now for the treasury doors. If I could find them. I don't even know where to look.
Another question. The hint on opening the Palace doors -- the name of the first emperor -- doesn't work, unless I entered it wrong. I did it phonetically. Ha, reh, something, something. I think it was scarab, arrow, duck, sitting down man But the doors didn't open.
I figured out another way in, anyway. But I was wondering why the doors didn't open.
Edit....got it! And got the loot, too.
Superb mission. One for the multiple replay list. I thank you, sir, for creating this.

I'm at the end of the game, in the treasury, trying to follow directions I've found in the threads - walking back and forth freezes my game. I get partial overlay of what looks like another area jittering across my screen, have to reload to do anything and same thing happens every time. Loaded an earlier game, played through to this spot and the same thing happens. Any ideas how to fix this? I'd like to finish the game with all objectives and can't because of this.

Sorry for the late reply: Your problem seems to be a bug indeed. I'm using a custom script in that area that should teleport you into another corridor. You seem to get teleported into solid space instead.
Unfortunately, I didn't make the scripts, and although they work for the majority, for a few players bugs like these happen. On the bright side, the treasury is completely optional, so you can still finish the mission without it.

Similar problem with the treasury here. Everything else in both mission parts work. Nothing happens after seeing the
first scarab. I can tell when something was supposed to happen by the footsteps. Walking back to where the first scarab was results in falling through the map every time. Ah well.
Thanks for the massive amounts of time and effort to put this mission together for us. OM quality. Perhaps better.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to finish all of the objectives, but it guess it just isn't in the cards.

It has been more than a while since I played Thief and I am just getting back to it. It would seem I'm either too old, brain dead or I hope just very out of practice. This mission 2 seems harder than 1 and I needed help with mission one. I have been reading this tread but my eyes are sore and I am STUCK!!
Made it through the trap and am in the room with the 3 doors. Each has a symbol above it. I got one to light up but no go for the rest. Also I have no glyphs, medalion, candle or ash. Should I start over or go back. Please help and old Thief here. What do I do now.
Thanks :erm:  :tsktsk
I have been doing some more reading and I am wondering if the glyph is that thing you frob to open the swirling portal instead of something that goes into inventory. Also aquired candle and entered palace. I am looking at 2 Jackels. Can't seem to get them to do anything???
I hope someone gives me some hints so. Crazy I am going hum!!:wot:

Hawklette - it's been a while, but I'll give it a go:
"Should I start over?" - no, don't think you need to.
Glyphs - there are 4(?) scattered about the city; IIRC, you need to find a map (can't be sure, but I think it's in the Records place), which indicates where they are.
Ash - explore where some ghosts patrol..
Two Jackals - there's at least one hint that tells you they must face each other. But there's a couple of panels in the way. The one furthest from the 2 big doors - just climb up there. The other - face the 2 doors, turn left, jump into some water, go forward & look up.
Don't know what you mean about the other glyph - maybe somebody else will remember.
Hope this helps :)
