though I must admit I am playing on easy.
If you don't mind me asking, why? No love for the checkpoint system?
Even on Hard the game is fairly easy, in contrast to other WW2 FPS at least. For one the Nazis don't have bionic vision like they do in MoH:AA and Airborne.
If the AI was as brutal as it is MoH:AA, I'd be begging for quick save and quick load.

Besides, in 1024x768, HL2's subs are just as big.
Okay? I really don't see the relevance of this point. I'm running BiA1 at 1680x1050, the font being this big at such a high res is due to a lack of PC optimisation.

Yes, well, nobody said MoH was
good. BiA is difficult enough without the AI, and a lot of it is because you can't just run around soaking up damage. You're not Audie Murphy. MG42s are instant kill.
I am chafing for a save/load function, but I'll live. I'm not really playing the game for the Nazi-shooting, I'm playing it for the story.

That may be true, but the point is that HL2's caption fonts are really quite large on any resolution as far as I know. And HL2 wasn't meant to be a console game.
On top of that, there are rarely any subtitles during the course of a mission, anyway- usually they're only at the beginning and end.

You guys make me want to replay that game :) Loved every minute of it, pretty much.
I gave up in my second playthrough because of a bug as I instructed a tank to go through a barricade (right before the "dead man corner" bit iirc.), it just didn't load the next level. Never figured out a fix... :erg:
For me, besides the low HP, the added difficulty of aiming and stuff did a lot for immersion too. It really made it feel like you're shaking/hurt/whatever... Plus the recreation of Normandy is top-notch.

I'm quitting this game. There's this irritating fucking freezing that's making it unplayable. It wasn't like this before, but now I can't go 5 minutes without it happening. The worst thing is I can't find anything about it on Google.
Figured out the problem, I think. My video card is overheating. FUCK

My 9800 pro has shitty heatsinks and fan. Games like FEAR and Oblivion will make it shut down, stuff less graphically intensive will not.

Raise the fan speed in Rivatuner, job done.

Unfortunately that wasn't it. My vid card is basically dead. I can't even get a picture with it anymore. I'm back on my 6200TC until the 9600 I'll be ordering in a few days comes in.

Isn't the 9600 going for the same price as an 8800GT? Why pay the same for less card?

Well unless 8800s are going for ~$100...

You can get a PNY 8800gt for $120 from newegg and it's a faster card. I honestly can't say I'd buy a 9 series GeForce card when the 8 series offers nearly the same performance for less money.
