As an FYI, the grid does NOT have any affect on objects, and can safely be ignored for anything you create from the object heirarchy. If you mean your door FRAME, then a grid size of 12 or 13 is usually sufficient. A door's normal workable dimensions are 4x8, so if you make a 5x9 solid brush, then a 4x8 airbrush inside of THAT, you'll be fine.
Don't worry that some doors say that they're "4.03" or anything like that. An object can be a little bigger than the surrounding airbrush and open fine without being obstructed.

For what its worth, instead of clicking repeatedly on the up and down arrows on any setting at the bottom of the dromed window you can simply put the mouse curser on the letter/word (U for example) and click & drag left or right to change the value rapidly. This is especially helpful when adjusting texture placement.

Another option for fine tuning is moving the mouse over it like john said and then you can use the mousewheel, steps are by default 0.01.
