So the Steam summer sale is coming...
I have a rather limited budget to work with on this one, as I currently have 20 EUR in my card that I can spare and about 9 more in my wallet. Hopefully this 9 will turn into around 15 by the time the sale comes, as I'm offloading any trading card drops I get, so this probably means I will have something like 35 EUR to spent.
My dilemma is pretty much what to choose between Darksiders 2 and Far Cry 3. I will likely not have enough to get both, because a fairly educated guess is that FC3 will go 50% off at 15 EUR and DSiders is going to be either 50% or 66% off at 25 EUR or 17 EUR, as Steam now seems reluctant to go 75% on major titles, or even mid-range ones.
My favorite genre is probably shooters and I assume I will enjoy FC3 a lot. At the same time, I really enjoyed DSiders 1 and it seems 2 adds a larger game world, more exploration and an RPG / loot system that looks fantastic. Any advice which of the two I should get?

Don't buy either unless it's a Daily Deal or Community Choice(or whatever categories they'll have this year). I didn't like Darksiders much so I've avoided the sequel. Far Cry 3 on the other hand? It's amazing. The open world is as much fun to fuck around in as the worlds of the GTAs and the Saints Rows. The action gameplay is great. The stealth gameplay is great. But what's best of all is how well they blend. It's not like when you get spotted the game transitions from being a stealth game to being an actiongame. No! The enemies still rely on sounds and line-of-sight, so you can still evade them and sneak up on them. So beautiful, so natural. Far Cry 3 is a better stealth-actiongame than either DXHR or Dishonored. That's how good it is. The story... has it's moments! And some great characters. Get Far Cry 3. GET IT! :D
Also when I bought it it was 50% off on Steam IIRC and that was a few months ago. Not inconceivable that it'll be 66% or even 75% off during the summer. If it's bundled with Blood Dragon then get that too.

Woohooo - another stint of capitulating to my stupid urge to collect games I'll take most of my lifetime to get round to playing.
I sure hope that I can leave my Steam login to someone in my will and that retro is still cool when I finally kick off.

I don't care much for story, so provided the gunplay in FC3 is good (not much of a stealth person in any game that is not Thief, if it has guns, I shoot them all the time), I may as well go with FC3 then. At least it's got its price reduced permanently to 30 EUR so even 50% off makes it 15. That's why I also don't think it will go below 50% off - it's already pretty cheap for a triple-A at 30 EUR.

Far Cry 3 is the better game. Darksiders 2 had significant pacing issues, and the Diablo-style loot system wears out it's welcome very quickly.

The Steam Christmas sale last winter was my first, and I felt guilty until a few weeks later when I went out for my friend's birthday. We went to an Indian restaurant, where I enjoyed eating Borderlands 2. We each chipped in The Legend of Grimrock for the taxi fare, and entered the club in exchange for all of the Stalker games. I can't remember much after drinking the Deus Ex collection, but I definitely bought a pack of Arkham Asylum, even though I quit ages ago.

In the grimdark future, the only currency is Steam games.

A world in which Dota 2 keys are the currency of Zimbabwe.
