Long time ghoster, first time poster (it seemed appropriate to ghost these forums, somehow).
I've got myself a problem starting the pirate widow mission, and wondered if anyone had found something similar, or had an idea how to fix it. I see the glyph beside the rowing boat, and can get aboard, but the mission doesn't start, and no "Would you like to start the mission?" screen appears.
It's my second time through the game (the first time was only casing the joints, obviously), and the only weird thing I did was choosing "no" on the Abysmal Gale, when it asked me if I wanted to leave (I wasn't finished rummaging).
I've checked all my relevant objectives, and the fact that the glyph appears implies the game is ready to go, but nothing happens in the boat.
From searching the forums, I've found Hogwash's useful save games, which I'll use as a last resort, but he doesn’t say what playing style he favours. I'm more of a pacifist thief, and I'm concerned he might be a level janitor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You aren't supposed to get onto the boat to start the mission - all you have to do is frob the glyph, just like when you want to start any other mission. Hope that helps.

I'll give that a go. I'm pretty sure I tried that, but remembered that I couldn't even get into the boat before.
No, now I'm doubting my memory.
Ah well.

Yeah you don't have to actually get in the boat to start the next mission. The only time it's good to get in the boat is when guards are chasing you - they can't get on the boat and just fall into the water :).

Yup. the frobbing did work. I'm an idiot. Thanks for pointing out the obvious (no sarcasm intended). I did indeed Forget To Frob.
What a great mission. I remember my frustration at it the first time, because the expert loot was difficult to find. And that I'd broken my "no kill / no knockout" rule, because of the time switch. This time, I'm going for the "mad running, screaming and dropping flash bombs" approach. Let's see how far that gets me.
