Ivory Rose, seconded.
Hmmm... Has anybody considered building a Thief theme park? Would be a helluva investment, I presume. Just imagine, pilgrims from all around the world come to pay thier homage to their favourite fantasy world. To wander around in the City... And in the hardcore version, that you could enter only if you know the Prayer of the Wallbuilder, you could seek for... secrets.;)
Errr... If anyone actually sets out to realise my idea... Well...
Could I be a Hammer? Pleaseeee! Pleaaaaaaaaasee! I beg! :cheeky:
PS. I do realise 'twould be a bit troublesome, for having to make an artifical sky, which is ebony black all the time. :D

Perhaps make the map "Framed" bigger. A secret attic at the very top of the building, another way inside the building, some more stuff.

I would prefer the belltower right at the beginning from Life Of The Party. Since I played the demo version of T2 (which was my first contact with Thief) I just love those roofs around and the view...

Edit. It's fun, comparing it to the (
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/8631/herewego32tt8.gif) map project, to see where City sites would be.
You can clearly see the haunted cathedral is prominently there on the west side, still a cathedral. Bafford's is now a big white building/parking lot SW of the topmost bridge. Soulforge is the long park on the east side. Shoalsgate is also prominent just NE of the northmost bridge. Constantine's seems to be another large-ish rectangular building on the far NW end. On the far east side, you could say that building in the field, past the trees, is Rumford's/Running Interference. The Wayside Docks (Shipping & Receiving) is also obviously there; it's a marina! Overlook mansion would be the first photo on the Google map page.
The major road layout is largely the same. You can see the crossroads in the NW which make up the intersection of Hightowne, South Q and the Old Q/Downtowne. And going north from that crossroads, on the west side of the street you can see what would be the Song of the Caverns operahouse, the same big rectangular shape. On the east side of that street, if you walk east a bit there's an orange building that might be the Undercover church.
Near the southernmost bridge (Shalebridge), if you go just NW there's a square row of buildings with a big tree in the middle. There's a rectangular building just north of the big tree. I'd think that that's the Shalebridge Cradle. If you go east on the Shalebridge, down that road, there's a similar square row of buildings with a tree in the middle (the whole area would be Life of the Party), and the building just north of that tree (1 orange roof, 1 silver roof) would be Angelwatch, although the largest building around is the big building SE of that, what should be Angelwatch but it's slightly in the wrong place.
If I took some time it'd be fun to find where other sites would end up being in the real-world source map.
Edit 2. Well, I made this: (

That's really neat to see. Thanks for putting it together, demagogue!

If I was to let someone make me a real life Thief room, I would probably go for some part of the Keeper's training (Maybe the round library + first two rooms - dark and silent ones). Or the courtyard would be cool. Other than that, any level that is filled with hidden passages (reminds me of Framed). I simply love hidden passages.

Looking at that Google map reminded me that what gives Thief that special quality is that it's always nighttime. I can't imagine the Haunted Cathedral feeling very scary in the daytime or walking across hot rooftops under a blazing sun.
I do enjoy getting out of the caverns and crypts to where there is open sky, and it would be interesting if we started a game at dusk and watched it grow darker as the game went on - maybe they can write that into Thief 4.

Nicely done, yes, only... I see no Final Glyph :cheeky:
