It's been a while since we last heard from Polish developer, People Can Fly. Since Battle Out of Hell they made exclusive expansion content for the PC version of Gears of War 1, were bought out by Epic outright and finally in mid-2008 scored a publishing deal with EA Partners.

Players step into the role of Grayson Hunt complete with an arsenal of over-the-top combat moves and outrageously large guns. Bulletstorm's array of distinct ‘skillshots' produces unprecedented levels of frantic gameplay and yell-inducing satisfaction. The skillshot system rewards players for inciting mayhem in the most creative way possible. The more insane the skillshot, the more points players collect to upgrade their character and unlock weapons, which then allows them to execute even more creative moves and exaggerated skillshots.

Did you see those words and numbers flying around on the screen ?
"Fertilizer +50".
I wonder if that is a new feature for FPS games taken from MMORPGs like WoW. It's called "scrolling combat text". You basically get all your actions and their effects converted to text and numbers, which are shown in the middle of the screen. I have that disabled when I play WoW, but it seems to be popular with many players. Supposedly, big numbers are more fun than small numbers ....
It gives you a better idea of what you are doing, and how effective you are. But it completely ruins immersion, imho. It changes "an adventure" into "a game". Completely the wrong direction. Bah.

no, this comes from arcade shooter and fighter games and is very fitting in an over the top game that completely abandons "normal" logic and should give you incentives for pushing on and getting better and this looks like it could do the job. constant feedback of your actions and visual gratification on more levels than exploding heads worked many times and with People Can Fly developing it's no surprise. Their previous game Painkiller comes from the same school like Doom and SeriousSam. I'm more worried that they want to pack story in there but I'm sure it will be only oneliners and cliche standoffs. As long as the story doesn't hinder me kicking enemies in the face, I'm excited about this game.
