and be the nation again.
Historic day in Scotland...
I expect a lot from the SNP over the next term. If they again deliver for Scotland then I will expect even more from the Scottish people in three years time... when we cast off the yolk of Westminster and be our own masters.

A chilling tale, brother

The SNP were a mob of wankers when I lived there, doubt much has changed.
If Scotland ever achieved independence it's about the worst thing that could ever happen, the country on its own would be a jobless and bankrupt hole.

Well Scots, the people now think differently - mostly due to 4 years of great governance compared the decades of betrayal by the petty self servicing labor party.
I can't wait for a proper debate on independence where uninformed ignorant views such as the above will be exposed for the lies and fear mongering that they have always been.
Scotland should be one of the richest countries with its wealth of resources, past, present and with renewables it always will be. We have been propping up the rest of the UK for centuries as they come through our land, cap in hand. And what do we have to show for it? Glasgow statistics that are shameful in comparison to the rest of Europe. True, things are much better now with devolved parliament... which Westminister had fought against from the start.
But still, we are not middle england, we are not south east england, we are not London and what (supposedly) works for them, does not work up here.
We need full power to make our own decisions, (...and in relation to the 'banking crisis'.... which has saddled generations of taxpayers in the UK with incomprehendable levels of debt due to greed and lazy regulation....) our own mistakes. Bankless? Remind me again why we shouldn't have said good bye to the failed banking institutions that have been raping us for years? I don't like it but it is capitalism... if you get it wrong, you go under. Let's remember the difference between a business designed to make money and a country consisting of a sovereign people working together to make life better.

I'd be interested (honestly, not sarcastic rebuttal style) to see some stats on the amount of exportable resources and comparative richness of it as a country on its own, as I had no idea what you're saying was the case. I just see a nation with a ridiculous unemployment and awful national health and a few historic treasures that get whored out to buggery.

I'd like to see those statistics too - I don't really see how Scotland can sustain itself economically. Don't get all up-in-arms; this isn't a slight against Scotland - I just don't understand how it would work.
If that is the route the SNP end up taking Scotland down it'll also be interesting to see what happens to the UK's nuclear submarine base of operations, HMNB Clyde - the SNP hate it with a passion but it's one of the largest employers in western Scotland. Surely the last thing Scotland needs is less jobs?
