And by "advice" I do not mean "get a PS3" thnx.
Background:
2 years ago I bought a 360, second hand. I normally wouldn't buy something that big second hand but they were sold out everywhere, it only cost 200 euros, and I needed one that instant. 1 year ago I got the Red Ring of Death, figuring I couldn't send it in coz it was second hand I fixed it myself using the X-Clamp fix. That worked fine until last week when I was playing Prototype and suddenly the colors got all messed up, so I restarted it and then there was no video at all. The audio worked just fine. I could hear the usual start-up sounds and clicking navigational sounds when I moved the controller around in the interface. So the thing clearly is working, except for the GPU that is.
I've read, online, about people with the same problem being able to fix it much the same way as I fixed the RROD, I've tried it but to no avail. I've tried pretty much everything short of the towel-trick but with no results. Well, I did manage to get myself a RROD a few times, but appart from that, no results.
Questions:
-Anyone know of any other fixes? Something I might've overlooked?
-About the 360 Arcade system. It says it comes with a 256MB memorycard but no HDD. It still has a HDD-port though, right? There's nothing wrong with the HDD on my 360 so I figure I might just get an Arcade system and then use the HDD I have with it. Is the Arcade system different from Premium/Elite in any other way? Besides not shipping with a HDD, I mean.
Yes I guess this should be under Tech&Troubleshooting but I don't think many 360 gamers hang out there.

I believe the current Arcade machines are essentially identical to the Pro and Elite models aside from the colour (the Arcade lacks some of the chrome highlights) and the HDD. Your existing HDD will drop into the new console just fine.

Yes, your old HDD will work fine on a new console. Arcade SKUs are designed to be upgradable.

Haha yeah I am thinking of getting a new PC as well sometime in autumn so I wouldn't like to spend a lot of money on a new 360. Seems I'll be getting the Arcade then.

first machine : 80x86 Dos 3.21 + 16 MB harddrive.
not counting my grandpas computer I was on all the time which was newer (80x88) but had no hard drive (2x 5.25 DD floppy)
As for the Xbox,, everybody i know who owns one has had it RROD. I'm not paying for one of these things.
But my dad bought a new LG flat screen a few months ago and it came with a free eksbawks that he never plays,, I want to skyfe it from him, It just needs a HD.

My first PC was a DX2-50,
maths co-processor all up ins!, I felt so privileged. I came up through the Commodore route before that too, though. In fact, in recent years I've expanded my CBM collection to a silly degree.
