I am armed to the teeth against unwanted technology advances, yet I still have a fairly modern computer. Based on (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113157) this thread, I bought a Core 2 Duo with a 7950 GT instead of an 8xxx series graphics card. I've also got a spare 7950 GT just in case that one breaks. It will run in SLI if I want it to. If I ever upgrade, I have two other computers that will play Thief 1 and 2. I also have three 19" CRT monitors (they give better blacks), two in use and one for spare. Windows Vista will never cross my threshold. Call me anal, but I am ready for the computer armageddon, and Thief is protected. :)
My advice is to stay away from the 8xxx cards as well as ATI 2900 cards until you are absolutely sure you will need DX-10. Then do not install it in your Thief computer.
