It's your call. I think it seems waxy in the original because it is low resolution and blurry. I don't think a high resolution version should have a waxy look. But it is your texture.

Those textures look great, but I wonder if you could make the doors look a little more worn?
Right now, they look a little too new - really well-kept, properly varnished and preserved.
That would fit for rich houses, but those doors are used absolutely everywhere, and I think most houses would have their doors look a little more worn. Plus, older and dirtier fits Thief's aesthetic better.

Just checking, the wood showing through is another texture, and the tapestry texture itself has transparency there, right?

No, it's a terrain texture, not an object texture. There can't be transparency, it's all part of the texture.

In the original, there is a section of fabric which is torn and hanging down in front of the tapestry, which is missing in the new version.
The original also seems to have stone behind it and not wood.
Also, great work on those doors, C-BEAM!
It's a very subtle difference, but it makes them look more realistic.
I notice that the brickwork around two of those doors doesn't match the brickwork around them in the original textures. I'm not sure if it actually matters though, since those doors are always recessed and rarely set up to match the surrounding walls anyway. You can see what I mean more clearly in the comparison:

The same applies to doordk, though that one's a bit strange. Even the original has the bricks darkened so that they no longer match (
