I am finding this mission very frustrating.
I followed the cart instructions exactly, I think, and nothing happened. Or is it just that you gain access to another part of the mine? I have been down to the end with the locked gate. Or did I blow it by getting off the cart between segments?
Then I blew up all the rocks. It got a little boring after the 5th or 6th time with no reward to be found.
Then I couldn't find the instructions or start the machine. A red herring, yes? And even if I did start it using instructions found in this forum, it looks like I would be faced with a task to haul rocks and press buttons for a long time.
I tried quite a few explosive barrels, and I could not get into the hole with the tomb.
And, I cannot find the sword.
Sorry, 2000 is not enough pay. I really hate to be a quitter, but I think I will head over to a Middle Eastern bazaar where the entertainment is a little more lively and the wine flows freely.;)

The sword is on top of a case in one of the two storage rooms in the lower level of prison.
And for those who couldn't get the machine to work, I am pretty certain I know your problem--It seems that if you wait too long, the emergency shutdown switches reset. You have to turn on the first conveyer belt switch, go down to the lower level and turn off the next switch, and THEN go down to the processing room and turn off all of those switches. No red lights can be on anywhere; otherwise nothing will work. Then you turn those little dials and click madly until everything goes on.
Curiously, though, all I had to do was throw the rocks into the hole of the ore crusher to get it to work. If you REALLY can't do anything else, or you can't deal with the respawning monsters, then leave the machine off and just throw everything into the hole from the processing room. It worked for me.

I have the machine operating but the doors to the upper level conveyor belts won't open. Is there another switch hidden that I missed???? :tsktsk:

That stupid mine cart puzzle - i still can't get past it, does anyone know the Turn-by-turn (left, right, straight) method of getting past this part?

I take it you found the paper with the list of directions?
What I found easiest was to write them down, and then every time the cart turns or you select a direction, mark off the next one.

yeah i tried that a couple times, but sometimes the cart moves faster than i can mark em off and i end up losing track

@ShadowWolf- I'll play this again tonight and post just the directions that the player has to worry about to make it easier. This puzzle had me for a loop the first time, too! :D

thanks ponterbee, if i dont get it tonight I'll shall await your salvation lol
EDIT: Got it thanks to my ingenious friend. She came up with an easier way than keeping up with the directions:
after you know what direction youre going at the push of a button, count the turns and mark those off as traveled
