Hi, I looked through the other posts and didn't see anything relating to this: In Mission I in the tomb I don't know how to exit the room with the 3 chests. The one on the right explodes when I throw something at it, the left one gives me the key and the middle one kills me, but none give an exit! BTW even though I'm only 20 mins into the mission it's awesome. The amount of detail completely blows me away.

Your clue was on the plaque just before you entered the room:
Quote:
Three fates await thee:
Thy Right Hand's touch will
seal thy tomb forever,
or grant the path whose
opening gifts a golden ring.
The foremost lock must be
loosed at once
But the second lock no good
thing will bring.
Do the right hand chest first, then the far left one. Leave the middle one alone. After you've opened the other two, a panel will open in the wall that takes you out into the hallway. Step carefully, as there's a face at the far end that fires fire arrows down that hall.
thx, one more question!
I left the tomb through the church grave, but I want to get back to the docks area. Is there any way for me to get back?

You should be able to get back through the sewers fairly easily, I think. There's a sewer hatch in the floor near the jail cells in the local Guard house. I'm not sure though, as I haven't played this for quite awhile.

Ok, so first off i tried the mod on hard. But then i decided i wanted to ko people, so restarted it on easy. Now, anytime i ko somone, it fails the mission with the objective "don't let anyone know you're a thief" failed....why does it fail if they are ko'd!? they won't remmember sh*t!

You are talking about Mission #1 right? If so, then the blackjacking bit in this mission was added as an afterthought just before release and unfortunately it doesn't work very well. Quite often the AI seem to go on alert just as you BJ them and then the mission fails. I tried many times, from the same save, to BJ one AI that has absolutely nothing else to alert him. Once or twice it worked, 4 or 5 times the game failed, even though I couldn't detect anything different in what I did. Quite frankly the easiest way to play this is without your BJ.

Quite frankly the easiest way to play this is without your BJ. Yeah, Team Calendra definitely should've fixed this (or took it out if they didn't have enough time) before releasing it. It detracts from an otherwise beautiful series, and one almost loses a bit of respect for them when they come across something like this. The sad part is it IS easier to play without your blackjack, and however unintentional, this succeeds in persuading a certain no-KO play style, and this should be frowned upon everytime it pops it's ugly little head up. One wonders if it would be worth the re-download if a patch was released (I suppose it would depend on what needed to be replaced, or if one of those nifty archive patches could be made which checks changed components and only replaces them. At least I've used one for a CD image before, and it was small and fast..
Just quicksave often and try to be as discreet as possible (the best way would be to hide in a completely dark shadow and blackjack them as they walk by, which would theoretically be one of the safest ways). It is VERY annoying at first when you realize the bug almost takes a life of it's own, mocking you with "Ahh, but they knew you were a thief just before losing consciousness!" and giving you the mission failure screen. If worse comes to worse (and you can't ghost or get the hang of KO'ing properly [I think I've had more success than Nightwalker with her little test]) you can simply
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+End to skip to the next mission, which doesn't have this problem at all (thank heavens!) :joke:.
Good luck. This was very hard for me, and I was so lazy/daunted I actually modified the stack count of several of my weapons so I could take everyone down with fire arrows and holy water :laff:. Hopefully one of these days I'll finish it in the traditional 'no cheat' style.

I think it's a function of the game that if someone sees you and then you go behind them to whack them they will alert as soon as you raise your weapon. You can't pickpocket them, either. It makes sense; they know you're there. You should wait until they've forgotten about you; this takes at least a couple of minutes, during which you have to be hidden from them.
I don't see how you could fault the designers of the mission for this; it's part of Thief itself.

At least I know there were times I definitely wasn't seen and blackjacked a fellow from total darkness to get the 'mission failed' screen. And you can't say they already know I'm a thief if I'm simply walking by them either (the objective is to alert no one I'm a thief, if they knew I was by looking at me it should/would be a 'fail on see' issue). It's just rather sensitive, and even if the basis is correct they should've fine-tuned it, as again, it is possible to fail without being seen by a certain AI
at all. Or maybe I'm just taffing you all and this is an elaborate hoax. Hmm.. :joke:
