Thanks Nightwalker.
Based on the version number it's patched. The patch has a lower number than my software (which I bought very late in the lifecycle of the game). Maybe I should patch it anyway...
I had heard of the "freezing" near the alter on some PCs but not the crashing. Not a problem now though I have moved on to chapter 2. I just hate not getting out without using an item from inventory. For 2 reasons:
1. I feel like I haven't "solved" the puzzle properly.
2. I generally hate to use stuff, I'm a hoarder. I always kick myself when I do something a really hard way only to realize later, I could have just used that flashbomb that I've been lugging around, or something like that...
Probably happened because I never did destroy the skull. Afterall, I have nothing against the old boy, I just want his goodies. It was cool to find the grave from the opposite side in the Murkbell cemetary (at least that is my theory, not being able to go that way).
As long as your T2 is ver. 1.18, there's no need to try to patch it. It wouldn't work anyway. The later releases of the game had the patch already integrated. You can "ghost" that tomb and get all the goodies without awakening the skull. Have you tried that? Maybe if the skull doesn't rise, you won't experience the crashes.

Yes, I ghosted first; that's my preferred method. that's is somehow related my problem.
Just for giggles I went back to an old save and tried destroying the skull, no luck causes a crash. If I start out unstealthy and just destroy it, without ghosting, I'm ok...don't like that tactic though...
No worries, so I used an arrow, it's not like I could save it for the next mission...

I cannot get out of the tomb. Have read all the threads. Only have 3 water arrows so can't zap the skull. The room with 4 doors only has two accessible now (two are closed off with rock walls), one to the area where the stone wall comes down when you step off the pedastal and have to use a speed potion to zoom under it. The only other "open" door leads to the pile of bones with the lever, the hall to the tomb, the room with 3 chests and the room with the floating necklace. Help!
Never mind. I had forgotten about that
necklace on the corpse that zips one back to the entrance.
Fin You don't need to destroy the skull. You can sneak in and get all the loot, and at the same time DEACTIVATE the skull, without destroying it or getting killed.
Sneak in on the RIGHT side. Crouch at the right side of the doorway and sneak in. Move as slowly as possible. DO NOT TOUCH THE SMALL BOULDER IN THE CORNER. When you are slightly behind the altar sneak up to it very very slowly.
Move to the back of the altar. Snatch every thing there EXCEPT THE BONE. As you face the altar from the back side. Crouch, ease around the left end (your left) stay as close to the altar as you can.
When you get about halfway to the front center look at the skull so that the RIGHT JEWEL in the skull, and ONLY the RIGHT jewel (that is the EYE SOCKET OF THE SKULL. THE RIGHT EYE) highlights. FROB the jewel. Then take the LEFT EYE.
The skull is now "DEAD" and you can roam at will.
Drat! Wish I had read that before I went on into Act II.

Theblackman - thanks, that's how I did it too but the probem occurs after that.
SAfter the skull is deactivated, I still can't frob the boulder. Well, not intirely accurate, I did get close enough to frob once after trying several routes to the boulder, game crashed after I frobbed though.
Hi, does anyone know if there was ever a fix to the problem where the game bugs out if you *don't* alert the skull in CL? Here's what happened...
Sneaked into his tomb, stole all his stuff, including his eyes, without being seen. Unfortunately, when I got back to the entrance, it was still blocked.
Now if I go back and alert him, or fire holy water arrows at him (not got any fire arrows left so cant check) the game immediately crashes.
If there's another way out of the tomb that'll do, not despreate to kill him or anything.
Cheers,

Yes, you can get out of the tomb without alerting him. Go back to the entrance that is blocked by the rock. Walk away from the rock down the hallway and around the corner. Now examine the floor between here and the end pressure plate. There's another pressure plate. Weigh it down and the rock will swing open again.

Aww, thanks Nightwalker. Don't have to go back and start the game again now :)
