Okay so I finally got CL, and I've just got to Midnight at Murkbell.
First off - wow - what a mission... salivate, salivate... best fm ever... :thumb: Okay now I've got that out of my system - the disclaimer.
I've been working for the past six weeks or more (when time allows) on a piece of fan fiction. It involves a vampyre. Ha Ha, suddenly I notice references to a vampyre in CL (same spelling variation as well :weird:).
I'm just going on the record now to say that 1. I was working on it before I played CL! and 2. hopefully it is nothing like the vampyre stuff in CL (I've only caught references so far so I don't know how much of the story is vampyre orientated or not).
Purah - it's not plagerism (if I ever finish the story!!!)
Placed on this thread because the references started in this mission and I didn't want to start a further thread that mentioned CL!

Where is the Cardinal? I looked hi and low but nothing to find.
Edit:
I found the shoot.
I made my way to the city street but a the AI are nuts again. How are you suppose to find your way to the apartment with all the nutty AI ? It seems like I'm going in circles with these guys. The map doesnt tell me much on how to find Garretts room.
Nightwalker on 12/4/2002 at 23:44
Going to the room now might not be a good idea. If you do
you may trigger an objective change that you wouldn't probably want right now. I was serious when I said you needed to do it BEFORE the Cathedral. Now you have an objective to go to the rented room and that changes things. Someone said they could duck in and pick up equipment without triggering the objective, but someone else said that when they did it, it broke the game, so be warned!
What do you mean "the AI are nuts again"?? There's usually a couple running for a bit, but that should stop. There will be more guards stationed at various spots through the city, but you should be able to get around them. Your rented room is marked on the map. It's towards the North. Also, keep in mind that the canals make a good travel route to some places.
Didn't you have this same problem with The Burgomaster?? It was Thief 1 so that couldn't have been the patch. (Or was that someone else that had that problem?)

Your quote is confusing. I thought if I got the BJ before delivering the package I'd regret it...you said "that I didn't need it right now".
Anyways, I got out of the Cathedrel. All the guards in the streets started chasing me all the way to my room. Mercedes killed them all as I ran around the room in a panic.
This fm is insain.

I am playing on easy.
I make it to the cathdral, drop the thingy down the chute, he threatens me, I run, and the objective never ticks off. Nor does the one about going back to the rented room and grabbing my stuff (which I do, after having yet another wonderful encounter with Mercedes).
Then, anytime I happen to be in the area of my room, Mercedes starts her little speech again....

Look, Howie, read the Nightwalkers quote again. She didn't say you'll regret getting it, she said you'll regret using it too much! And since the guards did not attack you while you were delivering the Cylix she was right, you DIDN"T need it. And you still don't need, let go into the rented room and you'll see why.
As for the cops they are on alert for you cause you broke into the Cathedral and they are suppose to chance you cause you are a thief, that's normal reaction.
:eww:
And Ethne, you need to upgrade Thief 2 to 1.18 and make sure your darkloader is 3.08, ealier versions of both will cause problems and you won't be able to finish the mission.

Nightwalker:
I went to the cathedril before picking up my stuff:
the objective is now destroy the cylix and the town's full of undead. Is this the objective I didn't want, or have things worked out okay?
oops... should have added that I've been a wimp and I'm playing at footpad level
Nightwalker on 13/4/2002 at 01:36
Taliesin -
That's the way it works on every difficulty level for this particular thing. It's easier to explore the town before you pick up your equipment unless you REALLY like undead missions!! :)And there's a LOT of town to explore, too. That was all I meant. Fire Eater doesn't particularly like undead, so I was just cautioning her to wait until she was done everything else she could do before she triggered that objective. You have to sooner or later, though, to continue with the mission.
The Falstaff Wizards
Assembling the Zilich amulet with the Eye In The Sky (hello? Alan Parsons, line one) overhead isn't all that difficult. Just make sure that you're facing the circle where the "J" is upside down. That way, it won't splatter you all over the marble floors. There's another way, too: If you don't alert the Wizards, the Oculus of Doom won't appear...but it will if you either make a horrendous noise or grab the vampyre blade (I think). Which brings up the following: by using a combination of stealth and a working knowledge of where the canal is, you can sneak your way around to pick up the pieces of the amulet without needing a sword-like object; so when you're ready to put it together, you can pick up the vampyre blade as well. Just do it all before triggering the "pick up your stash" objective.
Get to the Wizards' place and carefully KO the Wizard(s) (more than one on expert!) and make sure that they're not alerted or make a lot of noise. If they are (or do), a couple more Wizards will pop up and start searching. Not good. Also, the Bloodshot Orb O' Pain And Misery may show up. (I've played this particular mission five times and I still can't remember the important stuff) But even with the Biggest Bag Of Aqueous Humor EVER looking over my shoulder, I've assembled the amulet without being reduced to my component parts. I just made sure all of the Wizards were dreaming of sugarplums first. Anyway, do your thing. When the ritual's done, get up that ladder and into the the room with the torch lever quickly, because the Big Vile Jelly will be a little miffed with you. Grab the vampyre blade and skedaddle. All done! Two birds, one blackjack.
And I might mention that using the spoiler code makes everything look like it was some sort of censored government report dealing with top secret nuclear weapon reports, such as toilet-mounted nuclear warheads that, when detonated, will cause all of your skin to melt off, which makes me wonder why they're installed on toilets in the first place. So much for double-ply Charmin.

Silver Sorrow: No one told me I had to read the book first
