I'm having a hard time understanding the story:
I've dropped the Cylix down the shute at the Cardinal's place and then, I think he said something to me but I didn't quite hear it but I seemed to understand I'd been double crossed somehow? And suddenly everyone wants my head. I was a little confused as to what had passed. Then I make it back to my room and there is a woman there. She doesn't say anything to me at all, but a "New Objective" thing dings off and when I go to check it what it says, it read something to the likes of "I'm sick of this shit. Go Steal the Cylix back."
Oh dear. So I head out, without knowing who the woman in my room was (though I was guessing it was Mercedes) and I see that there are zombies everywhere.
I need a little help here. Was a cut scene supposed to trigger in my room? At least a conversation? I admit to not playing the first Thief 1 FM in this series (Cistern?) but I did read the whole readme which explained what happened, etc, so I figured I was alright just to play this mission. But really so far I'm quite confused. If someone could straighten me out when it comes to what happened at the drop off meeting and what was supposed to happen in my room, I'd really appreciate it.
-P.S. I have to say though, this is one fine mission. Yes, I'm a bit confused, but it really seems like a great mission.

Yes, Mercedes is supposed to talk to you and give you the keys to the cemetary. No cutscene though. You don't really need to hear the conversation to finish the mission (unless you are into the storyline), but you DO need those keys.
Are you sure you have the patched version of Thief II? Many people have had problems with CL while playing the unpatched version.

The cardinal did indeed double-cross Garrett; when the Cylix was dropped down the chute, he set off the cathedral alarm which put all the priests and cops on alert for you.
As for strategy, Purah set up the situation with checks and balances so you have to decide which course is best for you. For example, if you time it right, you can achieve a few goals on your way to the cathedral while you're still in the clear with the cops. The big decision is when to go back to your room. It's where all your gear is but entering it and talking with Mercedes triggers the undead sequence. You can ghost (pardon the pun) around most of the human guards but you have to do it without much equipment or you can try it with a modest amount of gear against a horde of undead. Most folks take the former option. :thumb:

There was only ever that one big patch for thief 2 wasn't there? That big 118 one? Cause I've patched that one on there.
How should I proceed? Go back to an old save and hope the conversation triggers I guess.

Yes, 1.18 is the last version. With luck, restoring to an earlier save will work.

In Murkbell: where the heck is the spell book? Doing this over to do the amulet thing. Last time I found everything but one of the gems. This time I can't find that blasted book. Playing on cat thief this time.

Hi, I have some problem in Mission 2. I have delivered the cylix to the Cardinal (I think). In fact I put it to the hole (something like flue) in cardinal´s bedroom. I know, that in the library is the passage to the door, which may be to the room under cardinal´s bedroom, but I haven´t the key for it. After I put the cylix, cardinal activate his priest, so I must run out. Than appear the second hint. So I went to my rentroom for some equipment, met with the girl. These two hints doesn´t match with green color in my objektives. What´s wrong? The third hint appear inmediatelly, I have done it, and it have been matched with green color in objektives. Another hints doesn´t appear anymore, I can´t to complete this Mission. I think, if I made some mistake in first and second hint, it would be matched with the red in the objektives and the game will end, or not? Please, help me. Thanks.
