I just did that part - first I agree w/ the last post you need to make sure you are updated with the patches. And no I don't believe their was an alarm because I got massacred the first time cause I missed the text at the top saying I was double crossed. Boy was I surprised.

If that objective didn't tick off, you have a problem. You could try uninstalling T2 (after you copy your "Allsaves" and "Saves" folders someplace else), reinstalling it and repatching it. It seems that sometimes the patch just doesn't work properly, but there's not guarantee that reinstalling will fix it. Then restart Mission 2 and see if the objective ticks off. Otherwise, do as Deiyen suggested and just play the mission, then use the keys mentioned to end the mission.

Hi
Having some trouble with [SPOILER]getting the eye from the Gleaming Facet. Their is a door, but it wont frob. Can't pick it, or open it. Is there a hidden way into the shop that I'm missing?[/SPOILER]

Did you arrive there after you had been to the rented room? If so, then you can't get in there now. [SPOILER]The item that was in there that you probably want has moved to another spot in the mission that is still accessible, but you won't be able to get the loot in the shop. [/SPOILER]

I can't seem to be able to finish "midnight in murkbell". I'm playing on expert and I've got the painting and the diamond and I've stolen the cylix and destroyed it... but the three first objectives didn't get checked along the way.
Would I need the "new" patch for thief2 or is there something I missed? Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but I didn't want to read through the whole thread.
I appreciate your help.

It sounds like you're playing with an unpatched version of Thief. Unless you have either ver. 1.18 or have patched your game up to that version, the first objectives will never tick off. Occasionally, people who have the patch still run into this problem. It seems that sometimes, even though you've used the patch, it sometimes doesn't work properly. Fixing that can be a problem. sometimes reinstalling and repatching T2 fixes it, but not always. I've been told that in some cases, you have to delete the registry entries connected to T2, which is not something you should do if you don't understand computers really well. I'd never mess with it myself.
If you've done everything in the mission and don't want to restart, as you would have to if you applied the patch, you could use "Ctrl+Alt+Shitf+End" to complete the mission and then go on to the third mission.

A few points that mainly arise from the fact that it takes 5 minutes for my PC to load CL and 2 to 3 minutes for every mission load, so I want to be sure I'm not missing anything:

[SPOILER]Do you get a sword from ur apartment when you have to return there after being double-crossed by the cardinal? There are so many undead afterwards I was surprised not to have one, but I'm sure I picked one up [/SPOILER]

[SPOILER]When the undead come out to play, in the market there were some very unpleasant noises. Then i tried to shoot a fire arrow at a zombie in the distance and it exploded in front of me, then this invisible ghost monster/zombie appeared in front of me. Should I just avoid this beast?[/SPOILER]

I'm looking for help with the following problem:
As soon as I enter my rented room and encounter Mercedes, the mission ends in failure with the "Don't kill any people" objective marked red, and I don't know why. The history is as follows:
I found the museum invitation, but it didn't work - the guards attacked me anyway whatever I did. Once he said something to me and opened the door, but then the guards inside attacked me. So I gave up on ghosting the mission, picked up the blackjack without triggering Mercedes and completed the museum and the wizard's place, all the while blackjacking any inconvient guards. Then I wanted to go on, but no such luck.
What I'd like to know: is there anything I must to with the invitation in order for it to work? Is there any condition I don't know? And why have I suddenly killed people, except I didnt? And is there any way around this?
I have the German version of Thief 2, patched to v 1.18, and CL V1.a
